Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited program within a clinical discipline.
  • Hold a clinical license or certification.
  • Be a Registered Veterinary Technician through the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board.
  • Pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam.
  • Have 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Lift 40-50 pounds and tolerate prolonged standing, sitting, or kneeling.
  • Perform extensive typing and computer work.
  • Work around animal dander, rabies, zoonotic diseases, parasiticides, animal-inflicted injuries, anesthetic gases, chemotherapy, gamma ray equipment, and irritant chemicals.
  • Complete a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required after an offer.
Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with technical procedures, including wellness care, dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia.
  • Support clinicians and care teams with patient intake, treatment, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments, obtain vital signs, and monitor hospitalized patients for changes in condition.
  • Provide anesthesia support and operate radiologic and dental imaging equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of biological parameters and accurately interpret diagnostic values.
  • Triage patients and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records using an electronic medical record system.
  • Communicate with clients, faculty, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Perform laboratory procedures using standard equipment and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including cleaning, laundry, and waste disposal.
  • Support the clinical training of veterinary students across all four years of the professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and demonstrations of technical skills in real-time clinical settings.
  • Supervise students during patient-care activities and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and best practices.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with faculty to reinforce learning objectives and clinical competencies.
  • Mentor and train new employees.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance professional skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is desirable.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
