Requirements
  • A valid driver’s license is required, and the driving record must meet the company’s Driver Safety Standards.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of the NCTI Installer course is required to qualify for the position.
  • The employee must be physically able to climb poles and ladders and perform work at heights.
  • The employee must be able to lift, carry, and handle ladders and weights up to 90 pounds.

Responsibilities
  • Perform new cable installations from system feeder tap ports to customer equipment interfaces, including aerial and underground drops and inside wiring for video, voice, and data equipment.
  • Install and provision high-speed Internet services for new and existing customers using DOCSIS cable modems and data networking.
  • Install and provision Voice over Internet Protocol telephony services using DOCSIS telephony or data modems interfaced with structured wiring.
  • Provide Level I voice and data support and troubleshoot cable modems, telephony modems, Ethernet networks, operating systems, and central processing unit equipment.
  • Install software and hardware required for customer Internet access.
  • Troubleshoot and identify drop-related problems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting to identify system-related problems for referral to line technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and repair ingress and signal-to-noise ratio problems at customer premises and out to the tap.
  • Locate and mark underground drops, fiber, and coaxial cable to prevent damage during excavation by other providers.
  • Replace or rewire house drops or components when necessary to correct drop-related problems.
  • Educate customers on the proper operation and use of interface equipment and provide information about company services and costs.
  • Coordinate with scheduling, dispatch, and supervisors regarding job status, encountered problems, and rescheduling requirements.
  • Recover company equipment from customer premises during disconnects.
  • Safely care for and use company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform duties in accordance with utility safety policies, training, and procedures and report hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Perform assigned on-call rotations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
