Keysight expands 1.6T test to passive copper and Low Power Optics.

Keysight expands 1.6T test to passive copper and Low Power Optics. Keysight Technologies introduced new capabilities for its 1.6T Ethernet interconnect validation portfolio, extending support to passive copper and low-power optical technologies used in AI and high-performance computing (HPC) networks. The enhancements apply to the company's AresONE 1600GE and Interconnect and Network Performance Tester 1600GE (INPT-1600GE) platforms, enabling validation of increasingly complex 224G lane-based interconnects across both scale-up and scale-out architectures. The expanded validation framework targets a broad mix of interconnect types, including passive copper Direct Attach Cables (DAC), Active Copper Cables (ACC), Active Electrical Cables (AEC), Low Power Optics (LPO), Linear Receive Optics (LRO), and coherent optical modules for data center interconnect (DCI). These technologies are central to balancing power efficiency, cost, and reach in next-generation AI clusters, where operators must maintain error-free performance across high-density deployments. Keysight said its platforms enable repeatable characterization of fully assembled interconnects under real-world conditions, including operation within GPUs, NICs, switches, and routers. Keysight also emphasized the growing complexity introduced by new silicon components such as DSPs, retimers, and linear amplifiers, which require iterative tuning to optimize performance. The company's validation systems are designed to support long-duration error performance testing, helping vendors and operators reduce deployment risk and avoid costly downtime in large-scale AI environments. Keysight will demonstrate the enhanced capabilities at OFC 2026 in Los Angeles. * Extends 1.6T validation to passive copper (DAC), ACC, AEC, LPO, LRO, and coherent optics * Targets 224G lane-based interconnects used in AI and HPC clusters * Supports validation across real-world system configurations including GPUs, NICs, switches, and routers * Enables long-duration error-performance testing to reduce deployment risk * Addresses tuning complexity of DSPs, retimers, and linear optics components * Platforms: AresONE 1600GE and INPT-1600GE "As AI and HPC networks scale to 1.6T, the industry is demanding interconnect solutions that extend reach while reducing power and cost - and active copper cables are emerging as a critical part of that equation. Semtech's 224G linear redriver ICs are designed to support ACC deployments, and working alongside Keysight's test infrastructure gives our customers confidence that these solutions perform reliably in real-world network environments." - Scott Schube, Vice President, Applications and Business Development, Signal Integrity Products at Semtech Analysis: Keysight Technologies continues to position itself as a critical enabler of the 224G ecosystem, which underpins the transition to 1.6T Ethernet across AI infrastructure.

Semtech launches TDS5311P, first circuit protection device with constant clamping voltage for 48V USB-PD EPR at 53V

Semtech Corporation has announced the TDS5311P, the industry's first circuit protection device delivering near-constant clamping voltage for USB Power Delivery Extended Power Range applications at 48V. The device protects power buses operating at up to 53V, designed for industrial equipment, rugged mobility devices and high-performance portable systems. Built on SurgeSwitch's surge-rated FET architecture, the TDS5311P maintains consistent clamping voltage across current levels and temperatures ranging from -40°C to +125°C. The device handles 1,512W peak pulse power and 24A peak pulse current whilst meeting IEC 61000-4-5 industrial surge standards, packaged in a 2.0 x 2.0mm DFN-6 format. The TDS5311P is available now from Semtech, addressing a protection gap in USB PD EPR systems where conventional TVS diodes clamp inconsistently.

Semtech SurgeSwitch(R) tackles the USB-PD vbus protection gap at 53 V.

Semtech SurgeSwitch(R) tackles the USB-PD vbus protection gap at 53 V. * Mar 24, 2026 Updated 3 hrs ago Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading provider of high-performance semiconductors powering data center networking, Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity and cellular infrastructure solutions, today announced the TDS5311P, the industry's first circuit protection device to deliver near-constant clamping voltage for USB Power Delivery (PD) Extended Power Range (EPR) applications at 48 V. The latest addition to its SurgeSwitch(R) family, the TDS5311P protects power buses (VBus) operating at up to 53 V, purpose-built for the growing class of USB PD EPR systems operating at 48 V across industrial equipment, rugged mobility devices and high-performance portable systems. As USB PD EPR adoption extends into industrial equipment, rugged mobility devices and high-performance portable systems, designers face a protection gap: conventional TVS diodes clamp inconsistently, with clamping voltage shifting across current levels and temperature ranges. The TDS5311P, built on SurgeSwitch's surge-rated FET architecture, maintains a nearly constant clamping voltage from the first microsecond of a surge event through maximum rated current, across the full -40°C to +125°C industrial temperature range. "USB Power Delivery Extended Power Range is bringing 48 V into application environments that demand industrial-grade reliability," said Tamir Reshef, vice president of product marketing and applications, analog mixed signal and wireless products group at Semtech. "The TDS5311P gives designers the consistent protection behavior those systems require, in a package small enough to fit the space constraints of the devices they're building." The TDS5311P handles 1512 W peak pulse power, 24 A peak pulse current and meets the IEC 61000-4-5 industrial surge standard, all from a 2.0 x 2.0 mm DFN-6 (Dual Flat No-lead) package.
