About the job

Requirements
  • A background in data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence engineering, gained through hands-on practitioner experience or through leading or governing data science delivery, sufficient to understand the technical content of the change workstreams and translate it accurately for senior, non-technical audiences.
  • Substantial experience running portfolio, programme, or transformation governance in a complex, technical organisation, with a track record of improving delivery discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and presenting reporting to senior and executive audiences.
  • Grounding in programme management methods such as MSP, PRINCE2, P3O, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent, applied pragmatically.
  • Experience building or contributing to business cases, including benefits and financial modelling.
  • Analytical and written communication skills to turn complexity into a clear message.
  • Ability to challenge confidently and influence without relying on formal authority.
Responsibilities
  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve standards for programme and project management across the transformation, including planning, RAID, dependency management, change control, and benefits tracking.
  • Assess hygiene across workstreams, challenge areas where it is not fit for purpose, and coach programme and project leads to close gaps early.
  • Provide independent assurance on delivery confidence and flag slippage and emerging risk before escalation.
  • Apply sufficient technical understanding of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence engineering—including model development and deployment, model registries, large language model optimisation, and production-grade code—to challenge plans, estimates, dependencies, and risk assessments, and identify when reported progress does not reflect technical reality.
  • Run the governance cadence end to end, including operating committee and steering committee forums, agendas, papers, decisions, actions, and follow-through.
  • Own reporting materials up to senior leadership level, producing concise, accurate, decision-oriented packs, dashboards, and narratives.
  • Establish a single source of truth for status, milestones, risks, and benefits, and ensure the data quality behind it.
  • Maintain a coherent view of the change portfolio, identifying overlaps, conflicts, dependencies, and gaps between workstreams.
  • Support prioritisation and sequencing decisions, balancing capacity, risk, and strategic value.
  • Align portfolio governance with wider Data Science objectives and key results and planning cycles.
  • Support leads in building robust business cases with clear problem statements, options, costs, benefits, and risks.
  • Work with Finance to validate assumptions and track realised benefits against the original case.
  • Help shape the pipeline of future initiatives so new proposals fit the portfolio and strategy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to artificial intelligence governance and regulatory context, such as the EU AI Act.
  • Professional accreditation such as MSP, PfMP, P3O, or PMP.
  • Experience in publishing, information services, or a comparable data-rich business.

RELX reports 7% underlying revenue growth as AI demand backs full-year outlook

RELX reported 7% underlying revenue growth for the first nine months of 2026, with its Legal, Risk, and STM divisions all contributing. Management reiterated its expectation of strong full year growth in revenue, adjusted operating profit, and constant currency adjusted earnings per share (EPS). AI-powered analytics tools, such as Lexis+ Protégé and LeapSpace, are becoming central to RELX's subscription model. The main risk is that competing or open source AI options could pressure its ability to charge a premium while it keeps investing heavily in new products. Analysts forecast revenue of £12.0bn and earnings of £2.9bn by 2029, implying 7.3% yearly revenue growth. Earnings are currently £2.3bn.

LexisNexis CEO dismisses AI threat as company reports 7% revenue growth

LexisNexis CEO Sean Fitzpatrick has dismissed investor concerns that AI threatens the legal software giant, saying proprietary data gives it a competitive advantage. Shares of parent company Relx fell 14% on 3 February following Anthropic's launch of an AI agent that drafts legal briefs, and are down 17% year-to-date. Fitzpatrick said LexisNexis's database of 200 billion legal documents, including content from Shepard's Citations dating to 1873, cannot be replicated by AI model makers. The company doesn't license its proprietary data to general-purpose AI providers. Relx reported 7% revenue growth for 2025 and 9% increase in adjusted operating profit, driven by customers adopting AI tools. LexisNexis is hiring and hasn't conducted AI-related redundancies.
