Requirements
  • A graduate or postgraduate degree or diploma in Dietetics and/or Clinical Nutrition from a reputed university.
  • Qualification in the Registered Dietician Examination and/or hospital administration is advantageous.
Responsibilities
  • Accept accountability for services provided through direct Nutrition Care.
  • Collaborate with the team to render professional Nutrition services.
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships among hospital personnel, medical staff, patients, and the public.
  • Maintain effective and open communication.
  • Participate in Nutrition Care policy formulation and decision-making.
  • Evaluate the nutritional adequacy and appropriateness of therapeutic diets and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve service and quality issues with follow-through.
  • Provide written management information system reports and Quality Indicators data at routine intervals.
  • Establish inventory standards for stationery items and patient education material.
  • Project staffing needs and participate in staff selection.
  • Train Dietetics Interns and introduce new or revised departmental policies for improved functioning.
  • Ensure compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Plan, standardize, and implement menus for in-patients.
  • Conduct training sessions for all personnel involved in patient meal preparation and service.
  • Facilitate continuous quality improvement in patient meal services.
  • Perform organoleptic evaluation of patient meals in conjunction with the Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Review hospital occurrence reports with staff and implement action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide nutrition care by considering medical, social, cultural, and religious needs and preferences.
  • Integrate evidence-based practices with clinical expertise and patient values.
  • Formulate Food Exchange Lists for practical menu planning and calculation of the nutritive value of therapeutic diets.
  • Conduct daily ward rounds, inform patients of their progress, provide bedside counseling, and offer follow-up consultations in the outpatient department.
  • Ensure appropriate orientation, training, and continuing education for staff.
  • Provide an educational experience for trainee dieticians.
  • Organize and involve staff in innovative departmental activities.
  • Act as a resource person to the Head of Department on departmental matters.
  • Maintain personal professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Schedule staff to maintain adequate coverage.
  • Plan and monitor the departmental budget.
