Job Description:
Pull up a chair and join us by the hearth. As a 3D Generalist Outsource Supervisor you will help our external artistic partners in creating beautiful 3D assets in a variety of different areas, including but not limited to environments, props and characters. Helping to take assets from conceptualization to final model completion. Your already established experience of being able to shift between the needs of several workflow pipelines will help to empower Hearthstone’s team to create the most engaging experience possible for our players.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore other possible options, including remote work arrangements.
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Collaborate with both external and internal art teams to direct 3D assets, provide timely and concise feedback, and apply final polish to ensure high-quality assets.
Oversee various 3D pipelines, prepare 3D assets and documentation for external art teams, implement outsourced assets, and distribute them to the appropriate internal teams.
Work closely with 2D, 3D, and tech art teams, as well as design, engineering, and production, to establish visual benchmarks, solve problems, and facilitate the review process with internal stakeholders.
Partner with production and art leadership to create a sustainable schedule, track and manage deadlines, and facilitate quick turnarounds.
Collaborate with outsource studios to develop a sustainable and scalable pipeline for external artists to support ongoing art and cosmetic efforts.
Utilize Unity to implement and finalize in-game art assets and address ongoing art requests and in-game bugs as they arise.
Address new challenges in a fast-paced development environment with constantly changing daily tasks.
Minimum 3 years of experience in professional game development environment as a 3D artist.
Minimum 5 years of experience in animation, rigging, modeling, and FX.
Minimum 5years of game engine experience (example: Unity).
Naturally curious and driven to solve problems when given unique bugs or tasks within a game engine environment.
Ability to create and direct art that meets design and technical requirements to deliver an exceptional gameplay experience.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and analytical in relation to pipelines and handling unique daily tasks promptly.
Maintains a positive attitude and can receive and provide clear, actionable feedback in a trackable manner
Possesses an affinity for timing, storytelling, and achieving high quality in-game results.
Strong interest in learning various aspects of the art pipeline, from illustration to final product, and documenting processes for the art team.
A technical background that enhances problem-solving skills and provides a deeper understanding of the pipeline and tools.
Ability to demonstrate understanding of Hearthstone’s visual style and whimsical take on the Warcraft IP.
Familiarity with the Warcraft universe and Hearthstone lore.
Knowledge of Hearthstone, including its gameplay mechanics and various modes.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $29.81 - $55.14 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
