Requirements
  • Completion of a state-approved unlicensed assist personnel program, meeting exempted unlicensed assist personnel guidelines with documented proof, or enrollment in the unlicensed assist personnel program through SSM Health upon hire.
  • For employees hired in Oklahoma or Wisconsin, completion of the Clinical Partner I orientation checklist during the 90-day orientation or probationary period.
  • No experience is required.
  • Ability to maintain constant alertness and work safely.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing and walking, hearing and speech, lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling, reaching, gripping, keyboard use and data entry, vision, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, repetitive movements, and occasional patient lifting or moving.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Responsibilities
  • Receive patient-care assignments from the registered nurse in charge and initiate delegated nursing tasks within demonstrated competence for the patient age group served.
  • Collect and document data for admission assessments, reassessments, appointments, or surgeries, and provide appropriate data to the registered nurse or licensed practical nurse for analysis and validation.
  • Inform the licensed nurse of changes in patient condition or needs, patient complaints, and patient or significant-other education needs.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment according to patient-care needs and cost-containment requirements, using time and supplies economically.
  • Answer telephones, relay messages, transcribe physician orders, and prepare and organize patient medical records.
  • Answer inpatient patients’ calls for help; take vital signs; monitor behavior and physical condition; assist with bathing, ambulation, feeding, skin care, personal and oral hygiene, occupied and unoccupied beds, dressing changes, enemas, ostomy care, toileting, turning, cough and deep breathing, catheter care, biological specimen collection, and measuring and recording fluid intake and output.
  • Prepare inpatients for discharge and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated; orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit.
  • Manage referrals for medical and surgical specialist appointments in an outpatient environment and assist with care for patients age three or older.
  • Perform point-of-care testing according to policies and procedures when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
