Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided, or a current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of the hire date.
  • Have less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Possess the interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Use competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to deliver patient care efficiently with health care providers and maximize resource use.
  • Be flexible in response to changes in work volume, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt continuously to varying workloads and work assignments.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds or more.
  • Have visual acuity and hearing within the normal range.
  • Work protracted or irregular hours and around biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased persons, water, and electrical hazards associated with patient-care equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care through the nursing process with accountability for assigned shifts and delegated care.
  • Create plans of care through assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Demonstrate safety and continuity of care through documentation and handoff tools or processes.
  • Recognize patient safety concerns and use appropriate resources.
  • Provide education based on each patient's unique learning needs and use the teach-back method to evaluate its effectiveness.
  • Incorporate patient individuality and mutuality data into care delivery.
  • Perform adequate patient assessments and documentation.
  • Use evidence-based practice in nursing care.
  • Participate in the organizational patient-centered care model.
  • Document problems and issues in the plan of care.
  • Develop the ability to care for more complex patients through consultation with experienced colleagues.
  • Maintain accountability for delegated nursing care and recognize the scope of practice of interprofessional team members.
  • Participate in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
  • Assess the impact of family dynamics on the health and wellness of healthcare consumers.
  • Apply the American Nurses Association code of ethics to nursing practice.
  • Identify discriminatory healthcare practices in culturally diverse populations.
  • Individualize care based on patients' beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
  • Complete annual education related to specialty accreditation requirements through computer-based learning, training, in-services, or competency validation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning through self-reflection and inquiry for learning and personal growth.
