Requirements
  • A high school diploma and two years of administrative experience, an associate's degree and one year of medical experience, or a bachelor's degree is required.
  • Typing speed of 25 words per minute and computer experience are required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with individuals in person and over the telephone.
  • The candidate must operate computers, printers, fax machines, multi-line phone systems, and typewriters.
  • The candidate must maintain age-specific competency for the patient population served.
  • The candidate must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • The candidate must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted and meet the stated physical requirements.
  • The candidate must maintain required corrected vision, hearing, peripheral vision, depth perception, color discrimination, and tactile sensory functions.
  • The candidate must work in a latex-safe environment.
  • The candidate must be physically qualified for respirator use where required.
  • The candidate must have employment authorization verified through the federal E-Verify program.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate accurate and timely completion of patient registration.
  • Distribute all paperwork necessary for patient care.
  • Verify and prepare patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing.
  • Review and verify available payment methods, including insurance, self-pay, and agency payments.
  • Review and verify patient and insurance information.
  • Work with patients to establish payment arrangements and apply for assistance programs.
  • Assist with collecting copayments and deductibles.
  • Resolve basic billing inquiries.
  • Work closely with physicians and nurses to support ambulatory healthcare.
  • Apply guest relations policies when interacting with patients, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Continuously pursue self-improvement through programs and opportunities offered by the Medical Center and its administrative departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPIC and medical terminology, as well as insurance knowledge, is preferred.
