Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree is required.
  • Ability to earn the Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician Crisis Service Provider (MHRT/CSP) certification within 30 days of employment; training onsite provided is required.
  • Must pass criminal background check, child protective services check, and sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • If MHRT is required for the position, must pass CNA registry check.
  • The position is fully remote, requiring a dedicated workspace that is quiet and free from distractions; employee must have reliable high-speed internet access; employer provides laptop, monitor and headset; workspace must be ergonomically set up.
  • Solid oral communication skills; ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and in a customer-friendly manner; ability to communicate with multiple parties during a crisis call; ability to learn and understand written crisis contact documentation; ability to manage complex tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • A flexible schedule is required.
  • Previous experience working in a call center or customer service environment is a plus.
  • Ability to become familiar with DSM-V information.
Responsibilities
  • Work to build rapport with help seekers by showing empathy and creating a safe, non-judgmental space.
  • Complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers experiencing a crisis.
  • Develop crisis stabilization plans with callers, utilizing clinical support to ensure the implementation of the least invasive interventions possible, prioritizing their well-being and autonomy.
  • Work collaboratively with community partners and service providers to ensure comprehensive support and continuity of care for individuals in crisis.
  • Receive training to become certified as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician Crisis Service Provider (MHRT/CSP) from licensed clinical supervisors and in-house trainers in the State of Maine.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of relevant experience in a behavioral health or human services setting, crisis work, or related fields such as child protective services, warm line volunteer work, residential care, case management, special education, or work with developmental disabilities; equivalent to 1,200 hours of work/volunteer/internship.
  • Previous experience in a call center or customer service environment.
  • Familiarity with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) information.
