Position Summary:
The Sr. Director of Product Management crafts the overall product vision and aligns strategy for multiple products across departments and locations. They work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design leaders, and business stakeholders, and ensure that the teams’ portfolio of roadmaps delivers value for both customers and the business. The Sr. Director coaches multiple teams in the use of techniques such as design thinking, user testing, and experimentation, and creates systems for generating insights to deeply understand our business and customers. They grow skills on multiple teams in the creation of product artifacts and iterates on product processes and team organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Own and drive strategy for the assigned product area (Affinity Groups).
- Guide the application of design and product thinking to the team’s product areas; Be deeply knowledgeable about the product portfolio.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in the cloud IT space with an understanding of internal and external customers’ worlds to get a deep understanding of what they do, spot trends, and anticipate needs.
- Actively manage deep relationships across the business to minimize surprise impacts on strategy.
- Understand other groups’ goals and objectives, and effectively influence decision-making across groups to maximize the value delivered across the company.
- Guide, communicate, and build support for the team’s distillation of vision and strategy into actionable, resolutely focused roadmaps that bolt into business Objectives and Key Results (OKRs); Set clear expectations for what outcomes will be delivered for the business.
- Actively identify and advocate for novel areas for investment that further the product vision.
- Track and report on the team’s product portfolio’s progress against OKRs and understand product performance across the portfolio; Tie investments to outcomes for the executive team (or directly support the Chief Product Officer (CPO) in doing so).
- Influence the Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer on company-wide strategy, prioritization, resourcing, and headcount planning.
- Make user research a major part of defining product strategy; Have a deep understanding of the role the product plays in users’ lives and how people use adjacent and competitive products; Foster a culture that values user research.
- Build team’s skills and coach along career path at the company; Identify overall areas for additional training/skill development across the product management organization.
- Collaborate deeply with Engineering, Product Owner, and Design leadership to evangelize best-in-class product processes.
Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:
- At least ten (10) years of experience in product management or an equivalent role.
- Detailed understanding of how APIs and cloud services work.
- Scrupulous about value for the business; Ability to understand and focus on what’s most likely to bring ROI.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills.
- Ability to work with considerable autonomy and minimal guidance with a bias to action.
- Proven ability to collaborate and problem-solve with diverse people in different parts of the organization, including different locations.
- Ability to vet the work, ask insightful questions, and pay attention to detail.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and can adapt to rapidly changing situations.
- Data-driven by nature, but comfortable making decisions.
- Track record of defining and delivering multiple products that drive outcomes.
- Keen design sense and strong empathy with our customers and vendors.
- Experience leading and growing a team of product managers.
Required Education & Certifications:
- B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Travel Requirements:
- Periodic travel to Pax8’s office(s), external partners, and conventions.
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $175,000 or more depending on experience
