Requirements
  • Seven to ten years of client experience in retail banking and/or the financial services industry, including experience working with business owners.
  • Seven to ten years of sales and service experience with previous success achieving sales and service goals in a retail environment or in a retail or business banking role within First Financial.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience in sales is preferred.
  • Familiarity with consumer, small business, small commercial, Small Business Administration, investment real estate, and other small commercial credit solutions.
  • Familiarity with treasury solutions and the ability to consult with small to medium-sized businesses about their banking, treasury, and credit needs.
  • Demonstrated success with consultative, needs-based selling.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organizational, managerial, and project management skills.
  • Well-developed customer relations skills and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Strong product knowledge related to consumer and commercial deposits, investments, consumer loans, business loans, and treasury management.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with senior levels of organizations on strategic planning and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Retail Banking leadership and the Business Program Manager to execute consumer bank strategies and objectives that attract, retain, and grow core small business segment relationships, fulfill clients' financial needs, and provide a first-class client experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans to engage districts and markets, establish behaviors and routines, and achieve individual, district, and regional production and growth goals in the small business segment.
  • Manage, deepen, and grow client relationships, with a primary focus on business relationships involving credit and deposit exposure assigned to the small business segment.
  • Initiate and maintain client and prospect contact through timely and relevant contact strategies, including banking center interactions, telemarketing, digital outreach, and activities and events outside normal working hours.
  • Establish personal sales plans and strategies for assigned districts and the region, leverage and follow up on leads and campaigns, and deepen and win new core small business relationships anchored with small business checking accounts.
  • Coordinate new loan origination requests, conduct loan closings, open new small business banking deposit account relationships, and refer other bank products and services based on clients' needs.
  • Support the Business Program Manager and Retail Leadership by consulting with Small Business Bankers and Banking Center teams on challenging or complex small business client situations and identifying new introductions and opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison and knowledge resource for financial center teams and associates regarding small business products, services, promotions, and program enhancements.
  • Assist the Program Manager by providing leadership, feedback, and guidance within the small business segment to improve the program and support long-term success across assigned districts and the region.
  • Participate in bank marketing and sales promotions focused on the small business segment and contribute to initiatives and programs that promote organizational strategic priorities.
  • Comply with bank, loan, and regulatory guidelines and policies while maintaining operational excellence for loans and deposits within the portfolio.
  • Identify and develop the small business client segment book of business, provide in-market support, foster client relationships, and uncover opportunities.
  • Act as clients' trusted advisor by adding value and building deep client relationships through the First Client Conversation Model.
  • Participate in and lead the First Financial Bank experience through site center huddles, district meetings, and regional meetings supporting sales and service activities.
  • Meet or exceed sales and referral goals by collaborating with lines of business to help clients meet their financial needs.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to financial center teams on referral and sales activities, with a focus on the small business client segment.
  • Hold periodic meetings with district and market leadership, regional presidents, and key stakeholders to align resources with the plan and prioritize actions.
  • Create strategic partnerships with internal and external partners to establish priorities and identify needs in the small business communities served.
  • Use community connections to market campaigns, promotions, and products applicable to small businesses and their owners and employees.
  • Be accountable for district and regional small business development performance and lead local teams through ongoing coaching, development, performance management, development planning, and feedback on results.
  • Assist clients seeking a Small Business Administration loan, lead the process with clients, partner with the Small Business Administration team and processors, and ensure proper claims servicing, policies, procedures, servicing activities, and internal controls.
  • Adhere to compliance and regulatory procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act, Check 21, Customer Identification Program, Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Regulation B, Regulation D, Regulation E, Regulation CC, Truth in Savings, privacy compliance, and the Patriot Act.
