Requirements
  • Six or more years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex, workflow-heavy products, ideally in business-to-business software as a service, legal technology, professional services, or enterprise tools for expert users.
  • Demonstrated ability to design artificial-intelligence-powered products, including addressing uncertainty, confidence, variable outputs, and user trust in large-language-model systems.
  • Ability to communicate precisely and adjust communication for attorneys, product managers, and leadership.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion independently, proactively close feedback loops, and remain accountable for customers' shipped experience.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end design for core workflows including patent search, claim charting, portfolio analysis, prosecution, and litigation support.
  • Conduct user research directly with patent attorneys, intellectual-property counsel, and legal operations teams, observe deployments, and use findings to improve the product.
  • Design interfaces that present artificial-intelligence-generated insights, including prior-art results, claim mappings, and portfolio analytics, in transparent, verifiable, and actionable ways.
  • Track developments in large-language-model interfaces, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and human-artificial-intelligence collaboration, and apply relevant interaction patterns to the product.
  • Drive design from discovery and concept exploration through high-fidelity prototyping, usability testing, and post-launch iteration, owning the quality of the shipped experience.
  • Build scalable design patterns that create consistency across the product while supporting specialized intellectual-property workflows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience with vertical artificial-intelligence or large-language-model products or agent-based systems.
  • Experience in a startup or early-stage environment where processes were built from scratch.
  • Familiarity with the patent lifecycle, including prosecution, litigation, portfolio management, search, and analytics.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • $40 million Series B closed April 8, 2026, led by SignalFire.
  • Patlytics announced 20x ARR growth and 18x customer expansion in six months.
  • August 2026 Agent launch deepens product lock-in and shows enterprise-facing momentum.

What critics are saying

  • Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, and Harvey can bundle similar workflows into existing contracts by 2027.
  • Patent outputs face high-liability error costs; one bad claim chart damages trust immediately.
  • If law firms stop mandating Patlytics, the platform loses network effects and growth stalls.

What makes Patlytics unique

  • Patlytics ships AI-native patent workflows end-to-end, not a retrofitted database.
  • RPX integrated Patlytics in February 2026, linking litigation, assignments, and prosecution data.
  • Agent adds patent-specific reasoning, turning filings and reports into client-ready work products.
