Hyundai unveils massive product renewal with Genesis and N part of 60-model spurt in the next four years. Hyundai will renew or update 100 vehicles including Genesis and N models, with a pickup truck in the mix. 27 Aug 2026 9:30 AM WhichCar Staff Hyundai has outlined its ambitious plan to grow sales, enter new vehicle segments and increase its presence in the EV market with a product push that includes seven new vehicles before the end of the year and products in 18 segments before the end of the decade. The bigger picture will see 100 vehicles renewed or updated across the Hyundai, Genesis and N brands by the end of the decade, and the Korean giant will also add its first extended-range EV models and line-up of body-on-frame off-road vehicles. The targets were outlined at the Hyundai CEO Investor Day 2026 in South Korea, with president and CEO Jose Muñoz listing just some of the new products in store for the company and providing a glimpse at longer-term plans for others. Hyundai has already taken the covers off new-generation versions of the Elantra sedan (sold as the i30 in Australia) and Tucson SUV, along with the Ioniq 3 small hatch. They'll be joined by an extended-range (EREV) version of the Santa Fe that combines electric drive with a petrol engine that functions as a generator in a first for the company. It was also confirmed that a mid-sized pick-up truck will join the line-up. A rival to the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux, its body-on-frame architecture is likely to become the base for additional models including light commercial vehicles and potentially an SUV, although the latter was not officially revealed. EV offerings will see product gaps plugged thanks to a compact model with SUV-like styling as a companion to the Ioniq 3 for the European market. A 5+2-seat medium SUV that will offer a step between the five-seat Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 will also join the range. Crucially for driving enthusiasts, Hyundai's N division is set to get seven new models across four segments. Confirmed layouts include an entry-level front-engine front-wheel drive platform, an entry-level performance SUV, a high-performance all-wheel-drive drivetrain - and perhaps most interestingly, a front-engine, rear-wheel drive model. Some of those models fill gaps left by the likes of the i20 N and Kona N, but some, like the rear-wheel drive announcement, come as a surprise. While Hyundai has previously offered rear-wheel drive cars, that market has been handed to the more upmarket Genesis brand. Hyundai also announced that the N portfolio will expand from the styling-based N Line and specially-tuned N Performance products to include a third N division. Positioned between the two existing lines, the new products will include performance that sits somewhere in between N Line and N Performance, with heightened dynamics and a more liveable approach to day-to-day comfort. Genesis has already revealed that a hybrid version of the existing GV80 SUV will kick off its new model rollout, and a new brand flagship, the GV90 SUV, has been revealed with Bentley and Rolls-Royce levels of luxury. Genesis has also had a steady flow of concepts for its Magma high-performance division, and has shown a number of G90-based variations positioned at the high end of the luxury market, like the GV90, indicating where the brand could make its next moves. The luxury brand will also follow the Santa Fe's lead by introducing EREV models, likely starting with the GV70. They will use an in-house, Hyundai-designed battery that promises lower weight, reduced charging times and improved energy density compared to the company's current tech. The new cell design will then expand to next-generation EVs. The wider rollout of electrified models will see Hyundai's model mix move from 23 per cent electrified in 2023 to a targeted 60 per cent by 2030. Hyundai also signalled that its production capacity will be boosted by a further 1.27 million units globally, with the USA, India, and Korea all set to expand, and plans to increase locally sourced content for North American plants to reduce the impact of tariffs imposed by the US government. Zeekr doesn't compare to this Korean brand. By Jack Quick Updated August 25 2026 - 5:52pm, first published 5:45pm Genesis has just revealed its most luxurious car yet and it has used it as a statement to show it's a cut above Chinese carmakers. Speaking with CarsGuide, Genesis Australia Head of Sales Operations Lachlan McColl explained that the South Korean carmaker is a closer rival to Range Rover and Rolls-Royce than Chinese luxury brands like XPeng or Zeekr. "Chinese manufacturers have made a significant impact on the Australian [market]... in the last three, four or five years really since it started to come on quite significantly." "When I do look at that, it's one of the more mainstream cars. "If you look at a vehicle in isolation, then I think maybe you could potentially compare vehicles together. I think we offer so much more than that, though. "It's not just about a piece of metal. It's about [how] we know our customers like cars that say certain things about them. It's about achieving certain statuses in life stages. "At the moment, I don't feel that the Chinese are quite there with having that brand perception. I think that's one of the challenges that we've had as well. 2027 Genesis GV90 Where does this leave Genesis? "If we look at those, the Europeans and the British, for example, that have up to 100 years of brand history and credibility and reliability and equity that they've built, we are in the process of building that. 2027 Genesis GV90 "I think the Chinese have started with that," added McColl. McColl also noted that while the Chinese luxury carmakers offer a more compelling value proposition, the Genesis brand attracts a different type of customer. They are the type of people that are moving from brands like Bentley, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce and Porsche. 2027 Genesis GV90 Neolun What is Genesis' latest model? The Genesis GV90 is the South Korean carmaker's new flagship and is an all-electric rival to the Mercedes-Maybach EQS and the forthcoming Range Rover Electric. It will launch in Australia in the first half of 2027 and while official details are yet to be finalised, it's understood that the flagship Neolun version may cost around $250,000, making it the most expensive Genesis model yet. The GV90 features two new world-first features: coach doors with a hidden B-pillar that allow for one large opening when the front and rear doors are open, as well as a roof airbag that's designed to deploy during roll-over accidents and protect occupants from being ejected through the sunroof. Two versions are set to be available - the GV90 and GV90 Neolun - both powered by a dual-electric motor set-up with total system outputs of 490kW and 800Nm. The electric motors are fed by a 123.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is the largest fitted to any Hyundai Motor Group EV to date. It allows for up to 500km of range, depending on the configuration, according to internal testing. Read More: Most viewed
From copycats to trendsetters: the dramatic evolution of Chinese car design. Posted by: sipitali August 24, 2026 Imports By Rigi Ltd has German Cars, European Cars, American muscle cars and Japanese Cars. And now Imports By Rigi Ltd has a new kid on the block, Chinese Cars. The global automotive industry is witnessing one of the most remarkable transformations in its modern history. Over the span of barely two decades, Chinese automakers have leapfrogged from producing cheap, shameless design knockoffs to establishing themselves as pioneering visionaries in electric vehicle styling, interior architecture, and user experience technology. The era of imitation: A forgotten past. To truly appreciate where Chinese automotive design stands today, one must recall where it began. In the early 2010s, the domestic Chinese automotive market was heavily characterized by crude imitations of established European, Japanese, and American models. Enthusiasts and industry critics frequently mocked vehicles that appeared to fuse the front fascia of a Mercedes-Benz with the rear profile of a BMW or a Toyota. These early iterations were plagued by awkward proportions, poor build quality, and a complete lack of original brand identity. They were designed primarily for affordability within a rapidly motorizing domestic population, with little regard for international visual standards or design coherence. The mastermind strategy: poaching global talent. Recognizing that visual identity and emotional connection were critical to global success, major Chinese conglomerates executed a calculated and aggressive talent acquisition strategy. Rather than waiting decades to organically train local design cultures, brands like BYD, Hongqi, Geely, and Changan actively recruited heavyweights from prestigious European design studios. The hiring of Wolfgang Egger - former head of design at Audi and Alfa Romeo - by BYD marked a major turning point. Egger introduced cohesive design philosophies such as BYD's signature "Dragon Face" language, elevating the brand's lineup into sleek, elegant machinery. Similarly, Giles Taylor, former design director at Rolls-Royce, took the helm at Hongqi to craft stately, imposing, luxury aesthetics tailored for executives and state dignitaries. Peter Horbury's transformative work at Geely further proved that under the right artistic leadership, Chinese vehicles could comfortably stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Europe's finest premium marques. The avant-garde EV era: boldness without baggage. Legacy Western automakers are often burdened by decades of heritage. Brand heritage is a double-edged sword: while it provides timeless prestige, it also imposes strict design constraints. Brands like Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz must continually balance radical innovation with historical design cues like iconic grilles or silhouette ratios. Chinese automakers face no such emotional baggage. Unencumbered by tradition, EV-native brands such as NIO, Zeekr, Avatr, and Xpeng have embraced hyper-futuristic visual languages. Vehicles like the Zeekr 001 shooting brake or the radical Avatr 11 SUV feature ultra-flush body panels, active aerodynamic components, frameless glass, and intricate light signatures that look like concept cars driven directly off an auto show turntable onto public streets. The tech-centric living room interior. Perhaps the most profound shift in Chinese car design occurs inside the cabin. While traditional luxury brands focused on hand-stitched leather, brushed aluminum trim, and tactile mechanical switchgear, Chinese design prioritizes the cockpit as an extension of the digital lifestyle. Vehicles like the Li Auto L9 and NIO ET7 reimagine the interior as a luxurious "third living space." Dashboards are designed around ultra-thin OLED screens, ambient light diffusion, and zero-gravity reclining lounge seats. Rather than retrofitting infotainment systems into existing dashboard layouts, the entire interior architecture is sculpted around screens, AI voice assistants, and immersive multi-speaker audio arrays. Physical buttons have been almost entirely eliminated in favor of clean, minimalist surfaces and voice-controlled micro-actuators. Mastering rugged and lifestyle aesthetics. The design boom is not restricted solely to aerodynamic electric sedans. Chinese automakers have also mastered the growing global demand for lifestyle and off-road vehicles. Great Wall Motor's Tank 300 and 500, alongside Chery's Jetour T2, have successfully captured the rugged, boxy off-roader aesthetic popularized by the Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender, but at significantly lower price points. These designs balance retro-futuristic styling cues with functional, heavy-duty utility. Over-Styling & ergonomic pitfalls. Despite these monumental strides, modern Chinese car design is not without its flaws. In their eagerness to stand out in an extremely crowded domestic market, some manufacturers fall into the trap of over-styling. Certain models feature an overwhelming mix of contrasting accents, aggressive faux vents, floating roof lines, and complex split-lighting clusters on a single vehicle. This can lead to busy visual designs that lack timeless elegance and may age rapidly compared to simpler European silhouettes. Furthermore, the obsession with digitizing every control has introduced ergonomic friction. Forcing drivers to navigate multiple sub-menus on a central touchscreen just to adjust side mirrors, aim air conditioning vents, or open the glovebox trades functional driver ergonomics for visual minimalism. The new global benchmarks. The narrative around Chinese automotive design has officially flipped. What was once dismissed as a derivative industry has matured into a dominant force that is currently shaping global design trends. Legacy manufacturers in Europe, Japan, and North America are no longer just monitoring Chinese pricing - they are closely studying their exterior lighting innovations, interior packaging, and software integration. While traditional brands still hold the upper hand in subtle proportion refinement, high-speed chassis dynamics, and tactile luxury detail, Chinese automakers are setting the pace for the next era of mobility. They have proven that with bold vision, world-class talent, and relentless iteration, it is possible to redefine the visual identity of an entire industry in record time. Who was the first Egyptian to own a Rolls Royce (on record)? Regional MD James Crichton explains why Rolls-Royce has entered Egypt - and how its culture could shape a new generation of cars. Aug 18, 2026 A Rolls-Royce has rarely had trouble crossing a border. King Farouk commissioned his own red Phantom III decades ago in 1939, and, in the years since, Egyptian owners have simply bought theirs elsewhere and brought them home. James Crichton, Rolls-Royce's regional director for the Middle East and Africa, had been counting. Those cars, already prowling Egyptian roads without an official dealer to answer for them, became evidence of a market hiding in plain sight. After years of visits and two years of deliberation, Rolls-Royce has opened temporary sales and service facilities in Cairo; the permanent address is due before the end of 2026. For its formal introduction, the marque has occupied a beachfront villa in Marassi and built a Black Badge Cullinan to match the view. The Spirit of Marassi wears Submariner Blue, Andalusian White and English White, with gold detailing; its fascia moves from water into sand, Egyptian turquoise sits in the rotary control, and the seats borrow their embroidery from Cairo's Khayamiya tentmakers. Parked beside the pool, the car, water and Mediterranean seem to have agreed on a palette. Crichton will consider Egypt a success when its culture begins appearing in privately commissioned cars. The real question, then, is not how many Rolls-Royces Egypt will buy, but what Egyptians will persuade Rolls-Royce to make.
2020 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB for sale with 44,000 miles. Kyle Edward Sun, August 16, 2026 at 3:12 PM PDT Autoblog and Yahoo may earn commission from links in this article. This 2020 Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB is the pinnacle of the outgoing L405 Range Rover, the hand-finished, long-wheelbase flagship built by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations to rival Rolls-Royce and Bentley from the rear seat. Finished in Santorini Black over a genuinely special bespoke Ivory Poltrona Frau interior, and equipped with the supercharged V8, it stickered at over $220,000. At 44,000 miles and a fraction of that price, its appeal is delivering ultra-luxury for the money, with Range Rover-specific diligence to attend to. What it's worth right now. The SVAutobiography LWB is a heavily depreciating luxury flagship, so mainstream data is the right guide. This truck stickered at $221,837, and Kelley Blue Book now puts a 2020 P525 SVAutobiography LWB's fair purchase price around $59,450, roughly a 65 percent drop, with used listings generally in the $50,000s to low $60,000s depending on mileage and specification. That steep depreciation is characteristic of high-end Land Rovers and is exactly what makes a lightly used one appealing to a value-focused buyer. This example's 44,000 miles are moderate, and its specification is exceptional. As the seller and commenters noted, the combination of Santorini Black over Ivory Quilted Poltrona Frau semi-aniline leather with the Copper Weave carbon trim is a genuinely special find on an SVAutobiography, and the car is loaded with the flagship's full luxury feature set plus a full-size matching spare. That said, Range Rovers of this era carry a reputation for expensive complexity, which the market prices in. Given the strong specification and moderate mileage against the segment's depreciation and Land Rover's running-cost reputation, I would call fair value roughly $55,000 to $70,000. The current $45,000 bid with five bids and five days remaining is below that and climbing, and where it lands will depend on how bidders weigh the exceptional spec against the ownership-cost concerns. Condition and details. The specification is the star. This SVAutobiography LWB is finished in Santorini Black Metallic with a color-matched roof and SVA exterior accents, riding on 22-inch diamond-turned wheels, with the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 making 557 horsepower. The bespoke cabin features optional Ivory Quilted Poltrona Frau semi-aniline leather with Copper Weave carbon-fiber trim, heated, ventilated, and massaging front and rear seats, power rear footrests, rear entertainment and picnic tables, console refrigerators, a Meridian Signature sound system, and the Driver Assist Pack. Recent service includes front brake pads in July 2026 and a pre-sale oil change. The condition discussion in the comments is informative and reflects an honest seller. A commenter flagged a Carfax line about turbocharger gaskets being replaced in June 2026, correctly noting the car has a supercharger, not a turbo; the seller confirmed it is a supercharged engine and that the entry was likely a data-transmission error from the dealer to Carfax, with the work done by the previous owner at a Land Rover dealer and confirmed by Carfax, though no physical invoice is on hand. On the August 2024 Carfax damage entry, the seller stated the rear was thoroughly inspected, all panels are original and aligned, and the paint matches throughout, characterizing it as a minor cosmetic notation. The diligence on a luxury Range Rover is important, as these are complex and can be costly to maintain. Given the Carfax gasket entry and the absent invoice, obtain clarity and ideally documentation on exactly what supercharger-related work was performed, and have a Land Rover specialist verify the engine and its ancillaries are healthy. Investigate the August 2024 damage entry with an in-person inspection to confirm the seller's account. Critically, budget for Range Rover ownership: have a specialist assess the air suspension, the supercharged V8's known service items, and the extensive electronics, since out-of-warranty repairs on these are expensive. This is a dealer consignment with a Tennessee title that lists the actual mileage in the remarks. The offer. | Specification | Detail | | Make | Land Rover | | Model | Range Rover SVAutobiography LWB (L405) | | Year | 2020 | | Mileage | 44,000 | | Engine | Supercharged 5.0-liter V8 | | Power | 557 horsepower, 516 lb-ft | | Transmission | Eight-speed automatic | | Drive type | Four-wheel drive with two-speed transfer case | | Exterior color | Santorini Black Metallic | | Interior color | Ivory Quilted Poltrona Frau | | Current bid | USD $45,000 | What makes the SVAutobiography LWB unique. The Range Rover has long been the definitive luxury SUV, and the SVAutobiography LWB represents its most exalted form: built by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division, it stretches the wheelbase for limousine-like rear-seat space and layers on the brand's finest materials and features, positioning it as a genuine rival to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga from the back seat, at a fraction of their price. The supercharged 5.0-liter V8 provides effortless, muscular performance, while the executive rear accommodations, with reclining massaging seats, footrests, refrigerators, and entertainment, make it as much a chauffeur's car as a driver's. It combines that luxury with the Range Rover's signature all-terrain capability and commanding presence. That blend of ultra-luxury, genuine off-road ability, and flagship prestige is what makes the SVAutobiography LWB special, and what makes a lightly used one such a compelling value given how steeply these depreciate. The tradeoff, and it is a significant one, is that Range Rovers of this generation are complex and can be expensive to maintain, so the smart purchase is a well-documented, inspected example bought with running costs firmly in mind. For a buyer who wants Rolls-Royce-adjacent luxury for Land Rover money and respects the upkeep, an exceptionally specified example like this is genuinely appealing. My take. This is a beautifully specified flagship Range Rover, and the Santorini Black over Ivory Poltrona Frau combination genuinely elevates it above the typical SVAutobiography, delivering enormous luxury for a fraction of the original price. My fair-value call is $55,000 to $70,000, reflecting the exceptional spec and moderate mileage against the segment's depreciation and Land Rover's running-cost reputation. I would be comfortable in that range for a car whose service history and the Carfax items check out. The buying advice is about the history items and the running costs. Get clarity and, ideally, documentation on the supercharger-related work behind the mislabeled Carfax gasket entry, and have a Land Rover specialist confirm the engine's health. Verify the seller's account of the August 2024 damage entry in person. Most importantly, go in with realistic expectations and budget for Range Rover ownership, having a specialist assess the air suspension, supercharged V8, and electronics before you commit. Handle those, and the current $45,000 bid is a reasonable entry into a genuinely special flagship Range Rover. Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes only.
