Requirements
  • A successfully completed degree with initial relevant professional experience or completed vocational training, such as training as a foreign-trade or freight-forwarding clerk.
  • Sound knowledge of national and international customs law, including European Union customs regulations (UCC/UZK).
  • Good knowledge of European Union value-added tax law for cross-border movement of goods.
  • Confident application of customs, export-control, and foreign-trade-law regulations.
  • Experience applying compliance and governance requirements.
  • Strong analytical thinking and a structured, solution-oriented working style.
  • Practical experience analyzing, optimizing, and standardizing business processes, with strong process understanding and a focus on improving workflows.
  • Willingness to work occasional shifts and flexible hours.
  • Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, monitor, and operationally handle all import and export processes, including preparing import and export declarations and monitoring the company customs system.
  • Review, approve, and archive tax assessments, shipment documents, and service invoices, and request refunds and subsequent payments of import duties.
  • Prepare Intrastat reports for all European Union countries in which the company is registered for value-added tax, including reconciling relevant data with the tax department.
  • Support national and international organizational units with customs-law questions and customs and tax audits.
  • Conduct preferential-origin calculations to evaluate and optimize logistics concepts.
  • Maintain, administer, and apply for customs authorizations and ensure compliance with customs requirements.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing new customs concepts for sites, countries, and supply chains, and support the design of efficient logistics and customs processes.
  • Train and advise colleagues and external service providers on using the company customs system.
