DESIGN
What We Do
Put your design skills to work at a cutting-edge company that challenges the norm. From character and level design to competitive gameplay and system design, help shape the future of interactive entertainment at Epic.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be part of a cross-discipline group of developers whose role is to build the tools that creators use to build and publish games directly into Fortnite. The Product Design team defines requirements, sets outcomes, designs the tools, establishes workflows, and works with programming teams to implement solutions. These features are released to the entire creator continuum to build the games that reach the ever-expanding Fortnite player base.
In this role, you will
- Own the product design and technical design elements of a feature from inception to ship.
- Provide clear, considered feedback and propose potential improvements for new tools and features; identify practical solutions to problems.
- Represent the user and be an advocate for them. Construct the user stories and provide feedback to ensure the tools can be figured out by the user.
- Use the tools regularly as a user would by creating games to ensure stability and reliability.
- Support features and UEFN capabilities after launch by collecting user feedback and responding to that feedback.
- Optimize user experience and evolve the tools to expand the capacity for UEFN to make different types of games in the Fortnite Ecosystem.
What we’re looking for
- A senior game developer with at least 7+ years of experience on completed titles.
- Experience with programming for gameplay and building designer tools, using C++, C#, Blueprint, Lua, Python, etc. Experience with UEFN’s Verse language is a plus.
- A broad skill set and can bring a unique perspective to our approach to tools and game development.
- Design and development of tools used by game designers to create content.
- Experience developing gameplay systems and tools required to develop them.
- Ability to communicate and articulate design requirements to other disciplines.
- Strong sense of game design principles and understanding of what constitutes a quality game.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of user experience and product design.
- Familiarity with Fortnite and Epic Games’ suite of products.
- Player and Creator first, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do.
