Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber, pipefitter, or steamfitter, or full journey status as a plumber, pipefitter, or steamfitter in a union, or four years of applicable work experience.
  • Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to daily hospital customer orders involving clogs, leaks, dripping faucets, and nonfunctioning steam radiators.
  • Install, remove, and repair all categories of plumbing fixtures.
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain potable water, waste, vent, and process piping systems.
  • Repair and maintain piping, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels, and associated systems.
  • Install, service, and adjust pumps, ejectors, valves, coils, and heat exchangers.
  • Follow proper procedures for working on medical gas piping, testing, alarm systems, and leak detection.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot piping, traps, regulators, strainers, and condensate systems.
