About the job

Requirements
  • At least 6 years of experience in GRC, information security compliance, or IT audit, including direct ownership of at least one SOC 2 or similar audit cycle from start to finish.
  • Working knowledge of SOC 2, HITRUST, and ISO 27001 frameworks through hands-on experience.
  • Experience responding to customer security questionnaires and requests for information, ideally in a B2B SaaS or healthcare-adjacent environment.
  • Ability to collaborate across Engineering, IT, HR, Legal, and Sales to gather evidence, close control gaps, and coordinate deadlines.
  • Ability to sequence overlapping audits and certification projects, track dependencies and remediation items, and manage project plans independently.
  • Strong written communication for drafting policies, request-for-information responses, and audit narratives for auditors and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Own continuation and renewal of SOC 2 Type II and HITRUST certifications end-to-end, including scoping each cycle, gathering evidence, working with auditors, and tracking remediation through the final report.
  • Establish ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification programs from the ground up, including gap assessments, control mapping, writing ISMS/AIMS policies and statements of applicability, gaining cross-team buy-in, and preparing for initial certification audits.
  • Manage the annual and ongoing audit calendar across frameworks, coordinating with Engineering, IT, HR, and Legal to gather evidence and close findings on time.
  • Track regulatory and framework changes, including HIPAA, state privacy laws, and ISO updates, and translate them into control updates.
  • Own security questionnaires and RFI/RFP responses for Sales and Customer Success, ensuring responses to prospect and customer due-diligence requests are accurate and on deadline.
  • Maintain a security knowledge base and answer library to reduce turnaround time on recurring questions.
  • Partner with Sales Engineering and Account teams to represent the organization's security and compliance posture in customer calls, including calls where security is a deal blocker.
  • Manage relationships with customers' internal security and compliance teams during onboarding and renewal cycles.
  • Build and run an internal audit and control-monitoring program, initially verifying that externally audited controls operate day to day.
  • Flag control gaps or process drift to the CISO/Head of Security before they become audit findings.
  • Expand internal audit scope over time into policy adherence, vendor risk, and operational risk as bandwidth allows.
  • Sequence audits, track remediation, and meet deadlines across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Act as the organization's primary voice on compliance posture and interface with customers, auditors, and partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience establishing a new certification, such as SOC 2, HITRUST, ISO 27001, or ISO 42001.
  • Experience with GRC/compliance automation tools such as Vanta, Drata, Secureframe, or Hyperproof.
  • Background in health tech, digital health, or another regulated B2B vertical such as fintech or insurtech, where compliance supports sales.
  • A relevant certification such as CISA, CRISC, CISSP, PMP or CAPM, CISM, or CTRC/CAP.
  • Exposure to vulnerability management or IT operations sufficient to meaningfully audit those processes rather than relying only on reports.
  • Experience partnering with Sales or Sales Engineering as a technical or compliance resource during the deal cycle.

Why women-led VC funds lead with speed and small checks.

Why women-led VC funds lead with speed and small checks. Venture capital has spent the last decade selling founders on scale as bigger funds, bigger rounds, bigger valuations. It delivered on longer and longer timelines as committees convene, partners weigh in, and diligence stretches into months. A growing group of women-led investment funds is doing the exact opposite. They write smaller checks, usually a few hundred thousand dollars and make their decisions in days instead of months. They believe this fast approach actually creates better and more successful companies, not just more diverse ones. Sarah Kunst, the founder and Managing Director of Cleo Capital, started her firm based on this exact idea. Cleo usually invests between $100,000 and $1 million in very new startups. They step in before a company has the big sales numbers that traditional, larger funds need to feel safe. Kunst describes herself as an investor who trusts her gut. She will often promise to back a founder before the company's final product is even fully decided. A partner who needs three committee meetings to say yes can't pre-commit to a person, she can only underwrite a deck. The smaller check is what makes the faster call possible, and the faster call is what lets Cleo be first in, ahead of the pattern-matching that dominates later rounds. The approach has put the firm behind companies like Ellevest, Hill House Home, FalconX and Kobold Metals, bets made when those companies looked far less obvious than they do now. Table of Contents Conviction before consensus. Anu Duggal, founding partner of Female Founders Fund, arrived at a version of the same discipline from a different angle. FFF started as a $6 million fund in 2014 and has since scaled its check sizes as it raised larger funds, but the underlying logic hasn't changed. Back six to eight companies a year, know them deeply, and move on instinct about the founder rather than waiting for a market to validate the category first. Tala founder Shivani Siroya has credited Duggal's early conviction with pushing her to be bolder about the company's direction, describing how most investors pattern-match, while Duggal saw the founder's own conviction and backed it instead. That's the practical output of a smaller, faster check, or it's a bet on a person before the market has agreed there's anything to bet on. FFF's portfolio, Maven Clinic, now valued at $1.7 billion, and Tala, with annualised revenue around $300 million as of early 2025, suggest the approach isn't just faster; it's found real outliers. A lane, not yet A takeover. The scale of this shift is still modest against the industry as a whole. Paige Hendrix Buckner, CEO of All Raise, has tracked more than 280 women-led funds in the U.S. that have raised over $12.6 billion since the start of 2022. Real money, but a fraction of the $76.8 billion raised by U.S. VC firms in 2024 alone. Smaller, faster funds are not displacing the traditional model; rather, they're carving out a distinct lane inside it, one built for the stage where speed and access matter more than firepower. What changes after the check clears? The lane has attracted disproportionate attention because the data suggests who writes the check changes what happens after it clears. A University of Michigan study of Crunchbase financing data found that women-led startups financed by all-male VC partnerships exited at rates 25% - 30% lower than comparable companies. But the gap disappeared entirely among firms with at least one woman partner, even though both types of firms invested in women-led companies at similar rates. In other words, the disparity wasn't about who got funded. It was about what happened to them once they were funded. The gap the model hasn't closed. That's the more uncomfortable half of this story, and the women-led funds themselves are the first to name it. The same speed and intimacy that make a $250K check land fast at pre-seed offer little protection two years later, when a founder needs a $10 million Series A and has to walk into rooms her early backers can't always get her into. Getting to seed has become the easier battle, but getting from seed to Series B remains the harder one. Largely because follow-on rounds are sourced through existing investor relationships where women remain structurally underrepresented, the very networks that smaller, founder-first funds were built to route around in the first place. So the smaller check isn't really an alternative to the traditional VC model, as it's a correction aimed at one specific failure point, the earliest and most subjective one, where speed of trust matters more than size of capital. What it hasn't yet solved is the failure point one round later, where trust has to convert into access. FAQs: * Q1. What are women-led venture funds? These are investment firms run by women. They back new startups with small checks and make decisions in just days. * Q2. Why do these funds write smaller checks? Smaller checks need fewer meetings, so investors decide quickly. This lets them back founders early, before other investors notice them. * Q3. How much money do these funds usually invest? Checks are usually a few hundred thousand dollars. Cleo Capital invests between $100,000 and $1 million in very early startups. * Q4. Do women-led funds change what happens after funding? Yes. A University of Michigan study found women-led startups backed by all-male firms exited 25-30% less often than comparable companies. October 1, 2026

Fix U.S. Maternity care: join the movement.

Fix U.S. Maternity care: join the movement. August 20, 2026 Every week, the headlines deliver another gut-punch to American health care: rural hospitals shutting down labor and delivery units, midwifery practices forced to close their doors, rising maternal mortality rates, and a rapidly shrinking women's health workforce. Amidst a worsening crisis and skyrocketing care costs, a single question haunts every parent, practitioner, and advocate: How can Grow Midwives do better? The answer starts with a fundamental shift in perspective. Years ago, while teaching a doctoral epidemiology course, I immersed myself in the work of Dr. Hans Rosling - the visionary Swedish physician who transformed global health data into breathtaking, hopeful visual narratives. Rosling proved that when statistics meet human-centered leadership, predictive action becomes unstoppable. His foundational belief remains profoundly true today: Grow Midwives can build a better world if Grow Midwives care enough to work toward it. That belief is no longer just an ideal - it is turning into action. A seismic shift in American maternity care is officially underway. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Olivia Walton Foundation recently announced that Dr. Neel Shah - renowned obstetrician/gynecologist and former CMO of Maven - has stepped up as President of Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies. This isn't about politics, policy debate, or finger-pointing. It is a unified, relentless charge to mobilize business leaders, healthcare providers, faith leaders, and everyday advocates around one non-negotiable objective: to cut U.S. maternal deaths in half in five years, making America the safest place in the world to give birth. Dr. Shah is a persistent, compassionate leader who puts patients first. Working alongside him on the Heartland Forward Maternal Health Advisory Board, the momentum is tangible - and the movement is open to everyone. Grow Midwives cannot afford to sit on the sidelines while mothers and babies pay the price for a broken system. Real change requires collective action. Take your seat at the table. Sign up today, get involved, and join the MOMTOURAGE at hmhba.org/#join. The ride to transform U.S. maternal health starts now.

The Creative Strategist serves as the connective tissue between data and production: the person who identifies what's converting, understands why, and translates those insights into briefs that move metrics. This is a highly cross-functional role sitting at the intersection of performance marketing, brand, and content. You'll work closely with the Performance Marketing Manager and partner with Maven's brand team, creators, and external agencies to build a rigorous, always-on creative testing engine. As targeting advantages continue to erode and AI reshapes how creative is produced and distributed, this role becomes increasingly critical - differentiation now comes from strategy and message quality, not asset volume alone. This is a remote role open to candidates based in the United States, with a strong preference for those in San Francisco. As a Creative Strategist, you will: * Own the creative strategy for paid acquisition, developing and maintaining a weekly and monthly brief cadence across Meta, TikTok, and other paid channels; treat brief quality as the highest-leverage part of the job * Translate performance data into creative direction by analyzing what's working across hook rate, hold rate, CTR, and CVR, and turning those learnings into actionable briefs * Own creative from brief through execution, working directly with designers, editors, and AI platforms to bring concepts to life * Write platform-native UGC scripts and collaborate with creators, talent, and editors to ensure authenticity, narrative clarity, and optimized calls to action * Use AI creative tools (video generation, copy iteration, image tools) to generate and test ad variants at speed, increasing creative velocity and expanding test coverage * Develop a systematic approach to creative testing: hypotheses, angles, hooks, and structured experiments focused on acquisition efficiency and conversion * Maintain consistent creative volume to support scaling paid budgets, owning the operational layer (asset library, naming conventions, agency handoffs) that enables speed and scale * Build and maintain a competitive creative intelligence practice, staying current on what's working in the market, particularly in health and wellness * Own UGC and influencer creative strategy, including frameworks for sourcing, briefing, scripting, and testing creator content as a performance channel * Ensure all creative output meets healthcare advertising guidelines and platform policies We're looking for you to bring: * 4-6 years of experience in creative strategy, performance marketing, or growth, with meaningful time in consumer health, wellness, or DTC subscription businesses * A hybrid creative and performance mindset: you understand what makes creative convert - not just what looks good - and can diagnose whether an issue is rooted in hook rate or hold rate * Proven track record of writing briefs and UGC scripts that have moved metrics; strong POV on direct response formats, hooks, and what earns trust in a health context * Hands-on experience with AI creative tools (video generation, copy iteration, synthetic testing), actively using them to move faster and expand testing capacity * Fluency in key performance metrics (hook rate, hold rate, CTR, CVR, CPA, LTV:CAC) and experience using data to drive creative decisions * Experience owning the full UGC pipeline: sourcing, scripting, briefing, and testing creator content at scale * Comfortable owning both the strategic and operational sides of creative production; you build process where none exists and keep velocity high The base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $170,000 per year. You will also be entitled to receive equity and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset. This role requires active work authorization in the US. At Maven we believe that a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences enrich our teams and allow us to achieve above and beyond our goals. If you do not have experience in all of the areas detailed above, we hope that you will share your unique background with us in your application and how it can be additive to our teams. Benefits That Work For You Our benefits are designed to support your health, well-being and career development, helping you thrive both personally and professionally. We remain focused on providing a competitive benefits package for our employees.
