Requirements
  • Vocational training, an apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in a related field; a four-year degree is not typically required.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through less than two years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Collect and maintain biometric data and biospecimens.
  • Introduce patients at UCMC and in community settings through the Community Mobile Clinic Van to the research study, answer participation and consent questions, and assist with administering tests or questionnaires according to protocols.
  • Perform blood draws and process blood and urine samples.
  • Package and ship biological samples to an outside laboratory.
  • Complete activities in strict accordance with Good Clinical Practices and applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures developed by the UChicago Institutional Review Board, Food and Drug Administration Code of Federal Regulations, and International Conference on Harmonization.
  • Maintain detailed records of results, including collecting, extracting, and entering data and preparing basic charts and graphs.
  • Prepare charts for participant visits, set up and clean exam rooms before and after visits, enter data as needed, and perform data and equipment quality-control checks.
  • Assist with and perform administrative and operational tasks as assigned under direct supervision.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of clinical studies to collect analyzable clinical research data or samples.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, or a closely related field.
  • One year of relevant research experience, including outreach, study recruitment, and biometric data collection.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Wet-lab sample-processing experience.
  • Knowledge of the relevant scientific field.
  • Knowledge of research techniques or methods.
  • Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
