Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, unless substituted by eight years of relevant experience.
  • At least eight years of professional software development experience with expert-level Python skills.
  • Experience integrating large language models or other artificial intelligence models with enterprise applications or automation systems.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar structured application programming interface and orchestration frameworks.
  • Background supporting monitoring, event correlation, or incident management platforms, ideally in large-scale or federal environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise monitoring processes and operational workflows.

  • Develop Python-based interfaces that generate and process Model Context Protocol calls for communication between large language models and downstream systems.
  • Implement end-to-end pipelines in which large language models interpret events, retrieve contextual data through Model Context Protocol, and return enriched insights to Veterans Affairs monitoring platforms.
  • Build autonomous reasoning and correlation behaviors that analyze alerts, reduce noise, recommend escalation paths, and provide enriched incident context.
  • Ensure Python-to-Model Context Protocol-to-monitoring-tool workflows are high-performance, secure, and reliable.
  • Write, maintain, and optimize production-grade Python code supporting continuous monitoring operations.
  • Integrate new artificial intelligence capabilities into existing event management, triage, and operational workflows across Veterans Affairs ESOM systems.
  • Apply best practices for security, reliability, performance, and scalability in distributed environments.
  • Work with Event Management and Major Incident teams to understand operational requirements and convert them into technical artificial-intelligence-driven solutions.
  • Support efforts to reduce mean time to detect and mean time to repair through automated enrichment, improved correlation, and intelligent insight generation.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to identify opportunities for automation and further artificial intelligence augmentation.
  • Serve as a technical mentor for Python, Model Context Protocol, and artificial-intelligence-driven automation workflows.
  • Provide progress updates to operations leadership.
  • Promote engineering quality and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing structured calls between artificial intelligence models, Model Context Protocol services, and downstream tools.
  • Strong analytical ability to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and explain complex concepts clearly.
