About the job
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least five years of experience in hospitality, medical reception, or as a Medical Assistant.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel.
- CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
- Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record systems.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA compliance standards.
- Ability to remain composed in fast-paced and emergency situations.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, or reach; frequently use hands and fingers for patient care and equipment operation; and respond quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment. Normal or corrected vision and hearing are required.
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and provide a concierge-style experience.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out using the electronic health record system, verify insurance, and collect co-pays.
- Schedule patient, testing, and follow-up appointments in collaboration with providers and their requests.
- Submit and track prior authorizations, including processing across multiple platforms and submitting required documentation.
- Answer high-volume incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries courteously and accurately.
- Maintain current, HIPAA-compliant records in the electronic health record system.
- Keep the front office clean, organized, and stocked with necessary forms and supplies.
- Assist with emergency response protocols by calmly alerting clinical staff as needed.
- Contribute to onboarding and training new team members to build support and cross-functional skills.
- Experience with insurance verification, scheduling, and electronic health records.
- Prior experience in allergy, immunology, or respiratory care settings.
- Comfort handling a high volume of patient calls and in-person interactions.
- Experience submitting and managing insurance prior authorizations.
- Experience handling patient referrals.
