Requirements
  • Complete understanding of semiconductor process systems, including ultra-high-purity and oxygen-service-cleaned stainless-steel systems, with the ability to competently inspect pipe and tube welds and systems.
  • Knowledge of field and workshop fabrication and construction protocols, means and methods, systems testing, and acceptance in accordance with industry-standard specifications.
  • Experience and knowledge of processed piping systems.
  • Ability to read Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Certified Welding Inspector certification is required.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 and ASME Section 9.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, hard hat, lab coat, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and respirators.
  • Ability to safely access and traverse indoor and outdoor obstacles for site inspections, including ladders, stairs, catwalks, and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move more than 20 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Inspect all fabricated and installed piping, mechanical equipment, skids, modular systems, and components against project specifications.
  • Review and approve Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, Procedure Qualification Records, Welding Procedure Specifications, Welder Performance Qualification records, inspection procedures, and records for installed pipe.
  • Inspect mechanical assemblies and subassemblies for alignment and proper functioning; prepare reports; notify appropriate personnel of equipment problems and deficiencies; and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure that valves, tubing, fittings, instruments, and other components are submitted and approved in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Retain records of nondestructive examination personnel qualifications and certifications for submission and review.
  • Verify that subcontractor inspectors are qualified to perform assigned inspections in accordance with project specifications.
  • Initiate Surveillance Reports and Non-Conformance Reports and update the Surveillance Report and NCR log following adverse findings during inspections or witnessed inspections.
  • Participate in turnover package documentation.
  • Perform periodic quality checks of welding to ensure submitted welding procedures are followed.
  • Verify that welders are certified for assigned work in accordance with project specifications and the welder qualification list.
  • Monitor subcontractor Welder Performance Qualification Records for welder rejection rates and notify the contractor of trends or project risks.
