  • Lead cross-functional execution across photonic device, analog/mixed-signal, packaging, and systems teams.
  • Drive tapeout schedules, define design milestones, and resolve critical-path issues across multiple concurrent photonic integrated circuit programs.
  • Architect optical transceiver photonic integrated circuits integrating modulators, photodetectors, wavelength multiplexing, waveguides, and optical couplers for high-speed and/or dense wavelength-division multiplexing applications.
  • Define and improve photonic integrated circuit design methodology, automation such as scripted design-rule checks and parameterized cells, and verification flows in Cadence and related electronic design automation tools.
  • Mentor and technically guide a team of photonics designers and set technical direction for the photonics photonic integrated circuit roadmap.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with high-speed (greater than 50 Gbaud) optical modulator or receiver photonic integrated circuit design for datacom or telecom applications.
  • Experience with dense wavelength-division multiplexing photonic integrated circuit architectures, including multiplexer/demultiplexer, multi-channel transceivers, and wavelength tuning.
  • Familiarity with co-packaged optics system requirements and advanced packaging integration.
  • Experience with photonic circuit simulation and computer-aided design tools, including Ansys Lumerical, ZeMax, Cadence, MATLAB, Python, and Verilog-A, and electromagnetic solvers including finite-difference time-domain, finite-difference eigenmode, and eigenmode expansion.
  • A track record of publications and/or patents in silicon photonics.

About the company

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is still surging: data center sales rose 117% to $89 billion in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • Stock grants are worth more: shares hit a record in October 2026, up 28% for the year.
  • Engineering dominates hiring: 1,722 of NVIDIA's 2,686 job listings in October 2026 were in engineering.

What critics are saying

  • Big buyers are hedging: Meta's February 2026 agreement covers 6 gigawatts of AMD chips.
  • Financing its buyers is getting harder: lenders pushed back on NVIDIA's $500 billion chip-backed loan plan in October 2026.
  • Staff described long hours: Bloomberg's August 2024 interviews reported seven-day weeks, late nights and shouting matches.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Rivals must match its software too: over 7.5 million developers use CUDA and other NVIDIA tools to program its chips.
  • The CEO has a broad direct staff: Jensen Huang says over 60 people report to him, without one-on-ones.
  • People rarely leave: NVIDIA's yearly staff turnover is 3.7%, versus a 21.9% average across the tech industry.

TSMC over Nvidia: why the $2.2T chipmaker has more upside than the $5.2T giant

A Motley Fool writer picks Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) over Nvidia as the better five-year stock bet, citing its upside and its central role in AI chipmaking. Over the past five years, Nvidia is up 874% and TSMC 266%. Nvidia, the world's most valuable public company, has a market cap above $5.2 trillion. In its fiscal second quarter, it reported $96.2 billion in revenue, up 106% year over year. TSMC makes chips for Nvidia and other tech giants, which gives it pricing power. Its gross margin rose from 59.5% to 66.4% in a year, and its market cap is $2.2 trillion. Both trade at similar forward earnings multiples, 23.3 times for Nvidia and 24.2 times for TSMC. The author says TSMC could double in value and still trail Nvidia.

Nvidia's 7.2% October drop fits Jim Cramer's buy rule, but AI financing risks loom

Nvidia shares closed at $221.97 on October 21, down 7.2% from their October 6 high of $239.24. That puts the drop inside the 5% to 8% pullback range that Jim Cramer says he waits for before buying strong stocks. Cramer said less than 5% is probably too early, while more than 8% may signal a problem with the company. Nvidia fell more than 10% at one point, closing at $214.13 on October 16, before recovering. The bigger worry is whether customers can pay for AI data centres. CoreWeave, which Nvidia backs, carried $51.61 billion in total debt. Nvidia expects fiscal third-quarter sales of $108 billion, plus or minus 2%. Cramer repeats his advice: "Own it, don't trade it.

Nvidia CEO's waddling Microduck robots draw 20,000 preorders in a day after viral keynote

Nvidia chief executive officer Jensen Huang played with a flock of waddling Microduck robots during his keynote at the GTC Berlin conference, and the video went viral. By the next day, preorders passed 20,000 units, Hugging Face's Clem Delangue said in a tweet. The robots sat, "napped," and somersaulted on voice command. Delangue thinks they could be the year's best-selling robot, and adults appear in the promotional videos too. They are due for delivery in time for Christmas. Microducks are open-source devices made by Pollen Robotics, which Hugging Face acquired in 2025. Nvidia bought Hugging Face in September. Owners can teach the robots new tricks and share them with the community.

Nvidia unveils Minerva software to cut AI data centre downtime as shares trade at $212.16

Nvidia has unveiled Minerva, software designed to keep large AI data centres running by spotting failing components early. The aim is to prevent interruptions that leave costly computing capacity idle. IREN already uses Minerva, while IBM, Lambda, and Tesla plan to deploy it. Dell, Lenovo, and Supermicro intend to offer the platform to their customers. Minerva links equipment data with running workloads. It helps teams investigate bottlenecks, group related alerts, and anticipate failures. Nvidia shares traded at $212.16 at 9:55 EDT. The company has not disclosed Minerva pricing.

Nvidia revenue jumps 106% to $96B as CUDA lock-in keeps dips attractive

Nvidia shares fell 4.4% in the latest session and 7.28% over the past month, closing at $212.21. One analyst argues the dip is a buying chance, citing the lock-in of the company's CUDA software, which developers and cloud providers rely on. Revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 rose 105.8% to $96.22 billion. Data Center revenue hit $89.02 billion, up 117%. Nvidia guided to $108 billion for the next quarter, plus or minus 2%. The company reports a 71.07% gross margin and a price-to-earnings ratio of 43. AMD trades at 191 times earnings, while Broadcom's AI revenue grew 221% but comes with heavy debt. Risks include supply commitments that rose to $279 billion from $119 billion, and guidance that excludes China Data Center compute.
