Google owner raises up to $5B in Australia's largest corporate bond deal

Alphabet has launched an Australian dollar bond issue expected to raise up to $5 billion, marking the country's largest corporate debt transaction. The offering includes six tranches ranging from three to 20 years, with indicative coupons between 5.35% and 7.10%. The funds will support Alphabet's data centre expansion. Mark Bayley from Kapstream called it "probably the equivalent of the SpaceX IPO for the corporate bond market." This represents Alphabet's first Australian dollar bond and the first time a US large-cap technology company has issued a Kangaroo bond in nearly a decade. World's largest technology companies spent around $500 billion on capital expenditure last year, with that figure expected to approach $1 trillion within coming years.
