Requirements
  • The candidate must have experience leading complex client relationships and/or working in a coverage role with exposure to complex clients, and must be able to support these relationships confidently.
  • The candidate must be able to lead deal teams, manage relationships with senior people in client and prospect businesses, manage senior internal stakeholders, and engage meaningfully with key business introducers.
  • The candidate must have a good understanding of corporate credit fundamentals and progress through a formal Risk Accreditation Plan to gain specific knowledge of credit risk management for clients in this sector.
  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of corporate banking products and services, including lending, cash management, cards, and foreign exchange solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and win new business.
  • Develop the portfolio and pursue opportunities to grow business across existing clients and potential new-to-bank clients.
  • Ensure effective risk management and act as a trusted partner to clients in the portfolio.
  • Establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients by aligning the bank’s offerings with clients’ needs.
  • Analyze client financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance using information from sources such as investment portfolios and cash flow to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and additional services.
  • Research client industry trends, the regulatory landscape, and competitive environments to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design customized solutions addressing clients’ needs and objectives using products and services from the bank’s portfolio.
  • Communicate proposed solutions’ value, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms that benefit both the client and the bank.
  • Guide clients on financial decisions, risk management, and wealth management strategies, and update them on market trends.
  • Assess financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships and implement measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Document client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings to support product development, service offerings, and bank strategy.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, revenue, and other metrics to evaluate relationship management effectiveness.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs, and develop business growth strategies.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, recommend change, plan resources and budgets, manage policies and processes, deliver continuous improvements, and escalate policy or procedure breaches.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks in support of control and governance objectives, and demonstrate accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
  • Apply understanding of organizational functions to help achieve business goals and collaborate across work areas to stay informed about business activity and strategy.
  • Develop solutions through sophisticated analytical thinking, comparing complex alternatives, defining problems, and developing innovative solutions.
  • Use extensive research in problem-solving processes and build and maintain stakeholder relationships and partnerships to achieve business objectives through influencing and negotiation.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise and guide technical direction; lead collaborative, multi-year assignments; guide team members through structured assignments; identify when other specializations are needed; train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists; and provide information affecting long-term profits, organizational risks, and strategic decisions, when operating as an individual contributor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Existing knowledge or experience working with firms in the Business & Professional Services sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • A track record of success in business development and managing a portfolio of corporate clients is an asset.
  • A good understanding of the Midlands markets is a positive.

Barclays appoints Wee Yee-Yeong to head private bank in Singapore and Asia

Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as head of private bank for Singapore and Asia, effective later this year. He will oversee private banking operations in Singapore and lead regional strategy for international Asian clients. Yee-Yeong joins from Morgan Stanley, where he serves as chief executive and head of sales for Singapore wealth management. He brings over 20 years of wealth management experience, having held senior positions at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Merrill Lynch. He will replace Alexander Harrison, who served as interim head. The appointment follows Barclays' launch of its Singapore booking centre earlier this month, marking a key step in the bank's Asia Pacific growth strategy.

Form Energy closes $270M credit facility to scale iron-air battery production

Form Energy has closed a $270 million credit facility to support its energy storage technology development. The facility comprises a revolving credit facility and a tax credit advance facility linked to Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit. An accordion feature allows the facility to expand to $1 billion. Barclays served as sole structuring bank, with Citi, Jefferies, JPMorgan Chase, RBC Capital Markets, Societe Generale, Stifel, and Wells Fargo participating in the lending syndicate. The financing follows Form Energy's $750 million Series G funding round in August, bringing total equity raised to over $2 billion. Proceeds will fund manufacturing scale-up and working capital as the company produces iron-air battery systems at its Weirton, West Virginia facility.
