TEGNA selects Sports Rights star Ramsey for new Group GM role.

TEGNA selects Sports Rights star Ramsey for new Group GM role. September 15, 2026 In another move that solidifies TEGNA's "hold separate" status as a California federal district court judge considers whether its regulatory approved merger with Nexstar Media Group is a violation of antitrust law, the broadcast television licensee led by Patrick Paolini has promoted its Sr. VP and Head of Sports Rights and Sr. VP of Revenue to the role of Sr. VP and Group General Manager for TEGNA Media. Dallas-based Brad Ramsey announced his promotion at TEGNA via the LinkedIn social media platform. And, it marks a return of sorts to a position he held from July 2019 through July 2025, when Ramsey served as TEGNA's Sr. VP of Media Operations. Ramsey will continue to serve in his sports rights position, earned in April 2023, while shedding his finance post taken some 14 months ago. As a BIA Local Media & Tech Daily reader, you get special access to RBR+TVBR Premium Content and a special VIP Membership offer, opening up RadioTVBiz.com and providing you with its quarterly Radio + Television Business Report magazine. Take advantage of this special offer by clicking here. With roughly 25 years of experience in broadcast TV that includes a two-year period in which he served as Head of Global Sales for Boats.com and, later, as VP of Strategy for The Center for Sales Strategy, Ramsey is in his second tenure at TEGNA. He first joined the company formerly known as Gannett in October 2012 as President/GM of WVEC-TV in Norfolk. Before that, Ramsey spent 12 years within Gray Media, serving as a sports anchor and reporter and taking sales positions with increased responsibility in Harrisonburg and Winchester, Va. In 2008, he was promoted to VP/GM of WVIR-29 in Charlottesville, Va. After two years leading WVEC, Ramsey would take a corporate role at TEGNA, becoming VP of Sales. He'd stay in the role until September 2016, when he decided a role in the boating industry would prove satisfying. Indeed, he was part of the C-Suite team leading a successful exit to Apax Partners while at Boats Group and Boats.com. As 2018 began, Ramsey returned to broadcast television in a significant way, earning the role of President/GM of one of TEGNA's prized properties: ABC affiliate WFAA-8 in Dallas. By May 2019, a bigger role would arrive for Ramsey, taking a Sr. VP role giving him oversight of ABC affiliate KVUE-24 in Austin and CBS affiliate KENS-5 in San Antonio. With the spring 2023 promotion to his sports rights role, bring pro sports to TEGNA stations has been Ramsey's specialty. This includes Milwaukee Bucks games on WQAD-TV in the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois and a Dallas Mavericks package for WFAA-8. Seventeen Indiana Fever WNBA games were seen across TEGNA stations in Des Moines and Louisville, as well as its WQAD-TV and WTHR-TV in Indianapolis in 2024. More recently, the Seattle Kraken NHL franchise struck a deal to have its games air on TEGNA's KING-5 and KONG-TV in Seattle. At the same time, KFAA-29 in Dallas was selected as the exclusive local broadcast partner of the Dallas Wings WNBA franchise, with games airing on six other TEGNA stations in addition to non-owned partner stations. Outside of his roles at TEGNA, Ramsey since 2026 has been Vice Chair of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and on its board of directors since 2020.

Nexstar confirms new TEGNA Board, court filing confirms.

Nexstar confirms new TEGNA Board, court filing confirms. August 26, 2026 It's not among the publicly traded company's SEC filings nor is it among the freshly distributed press releases found on its corporate website. Rather, the news was shared via a "Status Report" submitted by Nexstar Media Group through one of its Washington, D.C., attorneys to the judge overseeing its legal battle against DirecTV and a coalition of state Attorneys General. TEGNA has a new Board of Directors, complying with an order from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in Sacramento. Beth Wilkinson of Wilkinson Stekloff late Tuesday (8/25) submitted a five-page update to the court, addressing Magistrate Judge Carolyn Delaney along with Troy Nunley, who has been tasked with judging whether the FCC and DOJ-approved combination of Nexstar and TEGNA is a violation of federal antitrust laws. Among the "additional steps" Nexstar and TEGNA engaged in over the last two weeks is - listed third in order of appearance in the document - the seating on Monday of a new TEGNA board. As of today, the TEGNA Board of Directors is comprised of: * TEGNA Chief Executive Officer Patrick Paolini * Eugene Davis, the Chairman/CEO of Pirinate Consulting Group LLC. He is a former President and Vice Chairman of Emerson Radio Corp. and known as a "turnaround" expert who served as a Media General board member following an April 2008 election. * Bruce Levy, who most recently served as Managing Director of Corporate and Investment Banking at Truist Securities until his retirement in 2025. Before that, he was the Managing Director of Media and Telecommunications in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Investment Banking Group at Wells Fargo Securities, where he spent 34 years until joining Truist in November 2022. "Consistent with the Order, Mr. Paolini, Mr. Davis, and Mr. Levy are not current or former officers, employees, directors, consultants, or other affiliated personnel of Nexstar," Wilkinson tells the court. Additionally, TEGNA on Monday seated its Sr. VP/General Counsel Marc Sher as Secretary of the Board. Importantly, Nexstar notes that Sher was not appointed as a director and does not have a vote on TEGNA's Board. But, like the newly appointed directors, Sher is not a current or former officer, employee, director, consultant, or other affiliated personnel of Nexstar. Rather, he is a 13-year veteran of TEGNA's legal department. Once the appointments were made, Nexstar Chief Financial Officer Lee Ann Gliha resigned as a TEGNA Director, per the court's order. TEGNA stations receive four National Edward R. Murrow Awards.

TEGNA stations receive four National Edward R. Murrow Awards. McLean, Va. - TEGNA Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST) today announced its stations have won four 2026 National Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in broadcast journalism. The Edward R. Murrow Awards are sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and honor outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism. "Our journalists tell stories that make a difference and enrich the lives of the people we serve," said Raquel Amparo, senior vice president of content at TEGNA. "Every day, our news teams show up for their communities: holding power accountable, asking the questions that matter most, and celebrating the people and places that make a community special. If there's a meaningful and relevant story to be told, our teams bring it to our viewers." The prestigious Murrow Awards "recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community." TEGNA stations' National Edward R. Murrow Award winners are: * KARE - Minneapolis: Hard News, Large Market Television for "A Perfect Heart." The investigation exposes how the Mayo Clinic gave patient Noah Leopold a heart from an overdose victim and then purposely neglected to report post-transplant failure to the FDA to avoid bad publicity. His family's federal lawsuit accuses Mayo of withholding critical information before Noah consented to surgery. * WFAA- Dallas: Continuing Coverage, Large Market Television for "Unlicensed and Unchecked." What started as breaking news grew into something much bigger. This investigation exposed a hidden network of unlicensed facilities operating with little oversight, and the largely unregulated system of placement agents who helped fill them with elderly and disabled residents. WFAA's reporting led Texas Governor Greg Abbott to sign two new bills into law aimed at protecting elderly and disabled residents from exploitation and neglect. * WTHR - Indianapolis (two awards): Feature Reporting, Large Market Television; Excellence in Video, Large Market Television for "Italy's Gelato King." This heartwarming story introduced Indianapolis viewers to Sergio Dondoli, whose award-winning gelato draws visitors from around the world to San Gimignano, Italy. The piece aired as thousands of U.S. visitors and athletes prepared to travel to Italy for the Olympics, tying a global moment to a local-interest story. In June, TEGNA stations were also honored with 50 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including the top honor for Overall Excellence awarded to KGW in Portland, Oregon. KARE in Minneapolis, earned nine awards, including Excellence in Writing, and KUSA in Denver was recognized with six awards including Investigative Reporting. About TEGNA TEGNA Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), operating independently of Nexstar consistent with the "Hold Separate Order" issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California on April 17, 2026. TEGNA is a multiplatform media company operating 64 local television stations in 51 U.S. markets, and hundreds of websites, mobile and Connected TV (CTV) apps, and Premion, a leading Connected TV and Over-the-Top (OTT) advertising platform.
