Responsibilities
  • Collect, compile, organize, and analyze utility consumption data and rates.
  • Develop an understanding of utility supply-side opportunities, utility procurement logistics, and utility energy-efficiency rebate and incentive programs.
  • Research utility rate changes and deregulated energy-cost trends.
  • Conduct energy benchmarks using internal and external tools such as EPA Energy Star.
  • Review utility invoices for errors and work with the utility to resolve them.
  • Create utility budgets.
  • Assist with collecting, reviewing, and analyzing data from field surveys and utility data.
  • Develop an understanding of existing buildings and their mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Assist with identifying and evaluating improvements for energy or cost reductions.
  • Assist with developing associated technical reports.
  • Assist with developing and implementing IPVMP-adherent measurement and verification plans.
  • Develop energy-consumption baselines and adjustments through regression analysis and other appropriate methods.
  • Coordinate with clients, utility representatives, energy analysts, engineers, construction managers, and commissioning agents during project stages to assist in designing and implementing measurement and verification plans for continuous monitoring of energy and water performance.
  • Assist with reviewing design documents, mechanical and electrical specifications, and shop drawings for applicable metering systems to confirm measurement and verification requirements are met.
  • Assist with verifying utility performance of facilities and validating savings.
  • Review and analyze energy performance, including data collection, utility-bill accounting, sub-metering data analysis, and utility-cost analysis.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute measurement and verification dashboards and reports through multiple software platforms.
  • Assist with collecting and evaluating energy, weather, and building-automation data periodically.
  • Assist with reviewing data and identifying facility operational issues affecting energy consumption, comfort, or code compliance.
  • Assist with developing recommendations to address identified operational issues.
  • Assist with preparing reports for project stakeholders summarizing findings.
  • Assist with developing engineering-based energy models to simulate existing and proposed operations of buildings or systems.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to identify and evaluate potential improvement scopes.
  • Assist with developing life-cycle cost analyses and other engineering economic analyses.
  • Assist with developing supporting documentation for engineering calculations, methodologies, and related materials.
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision in a team-based problem-solving environment.

Desired Qualifications
  • Engineering Intern licensure is preferred.
  • CEM, CMVP, CEP, CEA, EEP, or BEP certification through the Association of Energy Engineers or an equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Experience with energy-efficiency programs is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing utility data is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Python, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, or R is preferred.
