Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with an entry-level degree.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the state of New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Governing Board.
  • CPR certification is required, or the candidate must complete it within the first 90 days.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare for patient evaluations by reviewing medical records, identifying areas of focus, contraindications, and precautions, and ensuring therapy orders are active and appropriate.
  • Evaluate the skilled therapy needs of referred patients and develop written prioritized plans of care with short- and long-term rehabilitation goals in collaboration with patients and other members of the health care team.
  • Update treatment plans, re-evaluate patients, and communicate with referrers and other clinicians involved in patient care.
  • Establish and implement discharge plans and instruct patients, family members, and other essential personnel in home exercise programs and strategies to maximize function, including use of home medical equipment, adaptive devices, splints, orthoses, and customized equipment.
  • Provide clinical supervision of therapy assistants, rehabilitation assistants, and other essential personnel in implementing and revising rehabilitation plans of care.
  • After successfully practicing for one full year, act as a clinical instructor and take an assigned student every 18–24 months.
  • Participate in ongoing clinical development programming and deliver one educational presentation each year, including through in-services, journal clubs, community outreach, or other educational opportunities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.
