Brookfield, NextEra to build $100B AI hub on former Kentucky uranium site

The US Department of Energy (DoE) has announced a $100 billion private investment to turn a former uranium enrichment site in Western Kentucky into the Paducah American Energy Hub. Led by energy secretary Chris Wright, the project will house an artificial intelligence and high-performance computing campus. Brookfield Asset Management will build the 1.8-gigawatt (GW) data centre campus. NextEra Energy will develop 2GW of gas-fired generation and 2.6GW of battery storage, with surplus power fed back to the regional grid. The phased buildout is targeted for 2032. It is expected to create about 8,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent jobs. The project arrives as investors grow wary of AI infrastructure spending, and Gallup polling shows about 71% of Americans oppose local data centres.

Clearstream and Brookfield partner to broaden private market access.

Clearstream and Brookfield partner to broaden private market access. 07 October 2026 Luxembourg Reporter: Madison Hendrickson Clearstream, Deutsche Börse Group's post-trade business, and Brookfield, a global alternative asset manager, have partnered to expand investor access into private markets. The firms explain that through this collaboration, Brookfield's Luxembourg private market funds, including infrastructure, private credit, and private equity, will be accessible via Clearstream's fund distribution platform. By integrating Brookfield's fund suite into Clearstream's distribution and order-routing infrastructure, fund distributors, private banks, and wealth managers can access alternative funds with the same standardisation, operational efficiency, and settlement traditionally associated with mutual funds, says the firms. Commenting on the partnership, Moritz Dechow, head of distribution for Clearstream Fund Services, says: "Expanding our private markets network is central to our ambition to empower wealth managers and distributors with the tools they need to navigate investments." Tata Newbery, managing director in the legal and regulatory group for Brookfield's Private Wealth group, adds: "Clearstream's established reach across global private banking and wealth channels, combined with its robust operational infrastructure, makes them an ideal partner. "Together, we look forward to making Brookfield's institutional-quality private market strategies a standard component of wealth portfolios."
