Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience and knowledge in construction, design, finance, and management are required.
  • Candidates must understand and interpret safety laws and company policies and standards.
  • Candidates must be able to apply effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Candidates must have a thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Candidates must be able to interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • A Professional Engineer credential is not required but is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate construction activities for industrial projects, primarily water and wastewater plants, as well as factories, production facilities, and data centers.
  • Ensure project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.
  • Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees, providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with the prime client to facilitate construction activities.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy.
  • Confer with project staff to outline work plans and assign duties, responsibilities, and authority.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Direct and coordinate project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Review project proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources.
  • Review status reports from project personnel and modify schedules and plans as needed.
  • Prepare project reports for management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical advice to project personnel and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate project activities with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
  • Analyze and execute critical path method-based project schedules.
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of the on-site Superintendent to ensure projects are built safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Represent the company in owner progress meetings.
  • Manage the financial aspects of contracts and take responsibility for project profit or loss.
  • Lead daily field coordination meetings, weekly block schedule meetings, and monthly safety kickoff meetings.
  • Mentor team members and assist with their career development.
  • Interview and hire employees, train them, plan and assign their work, appraise performance, reward or discipline them, and address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Perform additional assignments and other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
