- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Medical Assistant certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures is required.
- For New Jersey locations, graduation from an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program with at least 330 hours of instruction, including training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, is required.
- For internal Einstein applicants, Medical Assistant certification is not required for eligible current Einstein employees transferring within Einstein entities.
- Manage patient flow and perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms, phlebotomy, injections, and vital-sign measurements.
- Act as a liaison to physicians to support patient satisfaction.
- Maintain and order supplies for the assigned area.
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently with organizational values.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper patient identification.
- Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
- Use and document information technology systems within the established scope of practice.
- Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including electrocardiograms, venipuncture, and injections, using appropriate clinical skills.
- Adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security requirements.
- Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.
- Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting is preferred.
