Requirements
  • Experience with industrial controls engineering or engineering technology in a manufacturing environment, including equipment installation, modification, and optimization.
  • Experience with electrical and/or mechanical systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with programmable logic controllers.
  • Technical experience with relay logic, including wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Availability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and shutdowns, including business travel, both domestic and international, up to 30%.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, and walk throughout a large industrial manufacturing plant for many hours of the day.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs throughout a large industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and crawl to access equipment for repair.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 25 pounds in a one-time event.
Responsibilities
  • Execute North American initial machine setup personnel duties and increase Operation Availability through continuous improvement and technical problem solving.
  • Support the Battery department's capital projects from planning through Start of Production by modifying machine function and design.
  • Test and repair electrical equipment or systems involving circuits, relay logic, wiring, motors, servo drives, and related components.
  • Write and modify programs for programmable logic controllers, robots, cameras, safety systems, and other electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine components involving hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Plan and execute machine integration into mass production, including leveling, adjustment, and quality confirmation for the assigned work area.
  • Document work performed using written or electronic methods.
  • Solve problems and continuously improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Develop detailed schedules for assigned work areas or projects.
  • Support machine trials at vendors and at internal Toyota locations.
  • Certify equipment safety according to applicable standards through a Safety Integrity Check.
Desired Qualifications
  • A technical associate degree or higher.
  • Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic troubleshooting and schematic reading.
  • Working experience with servo motion controllers, including M-Code or SFC.
  • Experience in pre-production setup.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing quality data from multiple sources to determine root cause.
  • Experience with high-volume production in a clean-room environment.
