About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in wireless algorithm design, modem architecture, or physical-layer research and development.
  • Strong background in digital communications, including modulation, coding, synchronization, equalization, and multi-antenna techniques.
  • Solid understanding of fixed-point implementation, complexity analysis, and translating algorithms into hardware-friendly specifications.
  • Knowledge of radio-frequency requirements and constraints, including transceivers and analog beamforming.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++ for modeling, simulation, and performance analysis.
  • English proficiency at B1 level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom wireless protocols and waveforms, focusing on resilience against jamming, interception, and contested radio-frequency environments, including low probability of intercept/detection, frequency hopping, spread spectrum, adaptive techniques, and beamforming.
  • Architect, specify, and optimize the modem baseband and transceiver signal chain for custom radio systems.
  • Translate algorithmic designs into system-on-chip-implementable specifications, including fixed-point analysis and hardware/software partitioning.
  • Build reference models and simulation environments using MATLAB, Python, or C++ to validate protocol and algorithm performance under realistic channel and threat conditions.
  • Drive performance analysis and link-level studies covering throughput, latency, range, robustness, and power consumption.
  • Collaborate with system-on-chip architects and radio-frequency, digital design, software, and system modeling teams across the development lifecycle, from concept through silicon bring-up to field validation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with anti-jamming, low probability of intercept/detection, or electronic-warfare-resilient communication systems.
  • Background in Internet of Things or cellular wireless communications.
  • Experience with beamforming, phased arrays, or hybrid beamforming architectures.
  • Experience applying machine learning or artificial intelligence to physical-layer signal processing.
  • Knowledge of cryptography and secure waveform design.
  • Experience in defense or dual-use systems.
  • Experience with field testing of radio-frequency communication systems.

About the Company

Sine Engineering

GPS-denied, spectrum-resilient UAV connectivity solutions

Sine Engineering provides resilient connectivity solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles in GPS-denied and spectrum-challenged environments, aiming to keep drones controllable and connected in harsh conditions. Its products combine software-first capabilities with modular hardware that can be upgraded via over-the-air updates and easily replaced in production lines. The company differentiates itself by focusing on affordability and mass production, building on counter-UAS experience and serving multiple UAV manufacturers rather than end-user drones. Its goal is to enable widespread, low-cost deployment of capable drones in defense and aerospace, even when signals are limited or jammed.
