Requirements
  • Hold a current and valid Colorado Journeyman license.
  • Have knowledge of electrical theory and its application.
  • Have knowledge of safety procedures associated with electrical construction and common safety procedures.
  • Have knowledge of electrical construction and maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Have knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including indoor, outdoor, and underground systems.
  • Be skilled in planning, designing, organizing, and executing electrical projects in response to changing codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Be able to analyze electrical problems and devise and carry out effective repair plans.
  • Be able to communicate technical information, listen to instructions, and ask questions as necessary.
  • Be skilled in the practical application of electrical testing devices.
  • Be able to read, understand, and interpret electrical plans, complex circuit schematics, and blueprints.
  • Be able to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to climb ladders and work in small spaces by crouching, stooping, or kneeling, with sufficient strength and finger dexterity to perform the duties.
  • Be able to lift objects up to 100 pounds, obtaining assistance for objects that are too awkward or heavy.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Plan new or modified electrical installations to minimize material waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, or unreliable wiring.
  • Install electrical systems consistently with specifications and local building and electrical codes.
  • Follow diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Use electrical tools to measure, cut, bend, and thread assemblies, electrical raceways, conduit, and wire.
  • Pull conductors through conduit using tools ranging from small fish tape to large wire-pulling equipment.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, connect power to mechanical and other equipment, and install grounding leads.
  • Perform electrical testing, including metering, continuity, amperage, ohm, and voltage measurements, to verify electrical compatibility and component safety.
  • Troubleshoot installed equipment and systems by observing functionality to identify hazards and determine the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures to safely repair faulty electrical equipment or systems.
  • Follow current National Electrical Code and local electrical codes.
  • Work assigned by the manager, including duties at assigned locations.
