Requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure database services, including Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server Administration, performance tuning, indexing strategies and T-SQL scripting
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards, healthcare preferred (HIPAA)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues quickly and effectively
  • Scripting experience using tools such as PowerShell or Python for automation
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; equivalent work experience considered
  • 5-7 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Azure-hosted environments
  • Experience supporting large-scale database systems and critical infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL pipeline design and troubleshooting
  • Experience developing and implementing database backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes
Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the migration of database systems from a third-party Azure-hosted solution to an internally managed Azure SQL environment
  • Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing database systems within the Azure cloud platform
  • Monitor database performance, conduct tuning and optimization and address bottlenecks proactively
  • Develop and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity
  • Implement and maintain database security protocols, user access controls, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Collaborate with software development teams to support application data needs and ensure database efficiency
  • Create and maintain documentation for database systems, configurations, and procedures
  • Participate in database capacity planning and forecasting for long-term scalability
  • Support data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and analytics tools such as Azure Databricks to ensure timely data processing
  • Leverage automation tools such as PowerShell and Python for routine database management tasks and monitoring
