Dead by Daylight is now testing Denuvo, but "will not include" its anti-piracy DRM.

Dead by Daylight is now testing Denuvo, but "will not include" its anti-piracy DRM. A new Dead by Daylight anti-cheat trial is testing Denuvo's protection tool, but Behaviour Interactive makes clear there will be no DRM. Ken coolly serves the hottest news stories and has played, we think, every game ever made. Published: September 3, 2026 4 hours ago Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has just kicked off its first trial for DBD anti-cheat. There's nothing more frustrating in multiplayer games than having your match ruined by someone who refuses to play fair, and the horror spectacular is no exception. Starting exclusively on Steam, these new anti-cheat trials are being conducted using a tool provided by Denuvo, but the developer is quick to clarify that this is completely separate from the company's anti-piracy DRM, which will not be included. "Starting today, we will be trialing Denuvo's anti-cheat solution," the Dead by Daylight team confirms. "Note that this does not and will not include anything related to DRM, as Denuvo anti-cheat is different from Denuvo anti-piracy." DRM tools, which are used to prevent unauthorized access to games through 'cracking,' are often controversial, with reports that they can have a negative impact on performance. You can read our Denuvo explainer for more detail on why some players consider it a deal-breaker. There will be no Denuvo DRM in Dead by Daylight, then. What you can expect during this ongoing trial is that you'll be prompted to install Denuvo anti-cheat when you next launch DBD. "This is required to play the game," Behaviour emphasizes. "We're continuously testing the compatibility and performance of each anti-cheat provider to ensure you have a seamless experience. Compatibility with Steam Deck and Proton has been tested and will continue to be supported." The anti-cheat trial is exclusive to Steam, though Behaviour notes "cross-play will not be impacted." It asks that players "continue to use the in-game report function as normal to report any cheaters you encounter." If you're able to provide more specific details about what you saw or suspect, whether it be wallhacks, speedhacks, teleporting players, or something else, that's even better. If you have additional thoughts, the official DBD Discord is the place to give further feedback. Once the anti-cheat trial ends, Behaviour will be automatically disabling Denuvo anti-cheat, and it will no longer run on your system. The developer also provides a detailed set of instructions if you want to make sure you remove it completely from your system after the DBD test is over. This is just the first in a series of planned tests of several different anti-cheat solutions. Behaviour Interactive plans to follow it up with several more limited-time trials of other tools, testing their efficiency at catching troublemakers along with any potential impact on performance or the user experience, to find "a solution that works best for Dead by Daylight and for you, our community."

Video preview - The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight. August 28th 2026 Another new artbook can now be previewed on The Artbook Collector YouTube channel, this time with a look at the online horror hit, Dead by Daylight. The game has just turned 10 years old, and player can celebrate that with the new book, The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight! The 192-page hardcover was published on August 25th, 2026 by publisher Titan Books, made in partnership with the game's developer Behaviour Interactive. The deep dive into the development and artwork of their original content is perfect for players old and new, sharing the survival horror's ongoing evolution. Check out a preview of the book below. Inside is a look at the early artwork and some unused designs for the environments, Killers, Survivors, weapons, and more, offering a visual history of the game from its release in 2018, to 2025. It shares sketches, colour concepts, and illustrations, making it a varied and interesting look at the game. Alongside this, The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight also features the written development history and its evolution, told through author Paul Davie's writing and the interviews he had with the creative leads, making it the perfect read after surviving the Entity. In my review of the book I highlighted it as one of my favourite releases of the year so far. Its superb artwork, deep insights, and page design that keeps it interesting while packing so much in, makes it easy to recommend. Players of the game will find a lot to love inside and would find it a welcome addition to their collection. You can read my review in full here - Book Review - The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight. Before the release of The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight, I interviewed the author Paul Davies, who shared what it was like working on the book and what the role of an author entails in the artbook world. The Artbook Collector don't often hear from the minds behind the books themselves, so it was great to learn more. Check it out here - Interview: Author Paul Davies on Artbooks and 'The Art & Lore of Dead by Daylight'. Punch in, clean up, get paid: introducing Exterminauts.

Punch in, clean up, get paid: introducing Exterminauts. Behaviour Interactive is thrilled to finally pull back the curtain on Exterminauts, a brand-new original IP developed in partnership with Level Infinite and TEAM SHOOTER & CREATIVE. First revealed at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, Exterminauts is a gritty third-person co-op PvE shooter arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027. Exterminauts sends players to the alien world of Tian in the boots of a blue-collar crew of galactic field technicians. Their task? Exterminate alien threats, repair critical infrastructure, and - if all goes well - live long enough to enjoy their paychecks. Five Years of Punching In For Behaviour and its partners, Exterminauts' Gamescom debut marks the culmination of five years of dedicated development, collaboration, and creativity. Over that time, the Exterminauts team has worked tirelessly to bring an all-new universe to life, from establishing its distinctive blue-collar sci-fi DNA, to building the systems, tech, environments, combat mechanics, and co-op gameplay that drives the experience. Behaviour's collaboration with Level Infinite and TEAM SHOOTER & CREATIVE has been the bedrock of Exterminauts' development. From the earliest stages of the project, these partners have shared a joint drive to create something unique: a co-op experience where tactile sci-fi action meets the unguarded attitude of a crew trying to polish off the dirtiest job in the universe - and then clock out and crack a beer. "Exterminauts represents ambitious original IP, and it exists at this scale thanks to our partnership with Level Infinite and TEAM SHOOTER & CREATIVE," said Louis-Pierre Pharand, VP & Executive Producer at Behaviour Interactive. "Our partners understood the idea from day one and have backed it ever since. After years in development, we're proud to finally share Exterminauts with players." Built at Behaviour For nearly thirty-five years, Behaviour has built games alongside some of the gaming industry's biggest partners, bringing together creative talent, technical expertise, and large-scale production capabilities to tackle projects of all shapes and sizes. Exterminauts is yet another example of what these partnerships can yield. From concept to production, Behaviour's teams led the creation of both Exterminauts and its world, tackling the variety of creative and technical challenges that accompany an original vision, all while working closely alongside the studio's valued partners. There's still plenty of work ahead, and a lot more to share in the coming months. Good thing Behaviour Interactive brought the right crew for the job. Exterminauts launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Dead by Daylight is bringing immersive thrills to Dead Northern 2026.

Dead by Daylight is bringing immersive thrills to Dead Northern 2026. Something is waiting beneath City Screen Picturehouse this September. Dead Northern Horror Film Festival is taking its 2026 partnership with Dead by Daylight beyond conventional sponsorship, turning part of its York venue into an interactive extension of the multiplayer horror game while putting James Cameron's Aliens back on the big screen for its 40th anniversary. Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight has been confirmed as Dead Northern's headline partner for this year's festival, which runs from 25 to 27 September. The collaboration also arrives during the game's 10th anniversary year, with events and activations planned across the three-day festival. Among the first confirmed additions is a special late-night screening of Cameron's Aliens on Friday. Released in 1986, the science-fiction horror sequel celebrates four decades this year and will form part of a wider late-night event. Exactly what else that event involves has yet to be disclosed. The more unusual element of the partnership will be found downstairs. The basement at City Screen Picturehouse is being transformed into a Dead by Daylight-inspired immersive experience, developed with Behaviour Interactive and open to festivalgoers throughout the weekend. Organisers are deliberately keeping much of what happens inside under wraps, although challenges and interactive elements have been promised. Further information will arrive closer to the festival. It sounds ominous enough on paper, though what that means once people actually start heading into a cinema basement is another matter. Festival Director Josh Lawson said the organisers were keen to avoid a partnership that amounted simply to branding. 'When Behaviour first approached us about working together, we knew we wanted to do something that felt like more than a traditional sponsorship,' Lawson said. 'Dead Northern has always been about creating experiences for horror fans, so the opportunity to bring Dead by Daylight into the physical festival was incredibly exciting.' He added that the anniversary screening was particularly suited to the communal atmosphere of the event. 'Love Horror is particularly excited about Aliens as its Friday night screening. It's exactly the sort of film that works brilliantly with a festival audience, and celebrating its 40th anniversary gives Love Horror another great reason to put it on the big screen.' Developed and published by Behaviour Interactive, Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game built around matches in which four survivors face a single killer. During its decade-long run, the game has combined its own characters and settings with figures drawn from established horror properties, helping it build an audience spanning gaming and genre cinema. More Dead by Daylight activations and other surprises are due to be announced in the coming weeks. They will sit alongside Dead Northern's existing mix of independent horror, premieres, cult screenings, talks and live events. The festival's full 2026 programme is due to be unveiled tomorrow, 27 August (watch this space). Dead Northern Horror Film Festival takes place at City Screen Picturehouse in York from 25 to 27 September 2026, with the full programme going live on 27 August and tickets and further information available through Dead Northern: deadnorthern.co.uk/

Exterminauts is a 3-player co-op shooter developed by Behaviour Interactive.

Exterminauts is a 3-player co-op shooter developed by Behaviour Interactive. While Gamingbolt didn't get too many details about the title, its debut trailer revealed its sci-fi setting and emphasis on co-op gameplay. Developer Behaviour Interactive has finally unveiled its debut project - Exterminauts. The game was unveiled with a trailer showcasing its sci-fi setting and 3-player co-op gameplay. Check it out below. The title will be a third-person shooter that tasks players with taking on massive alien threats while also protecting nearby bases. The narrator implies that players will be forced to constantly stave off the complete collapse of their base, and will often also be tasked with repairing things that are constantly breaking apart. The primary setting of Exterminauts will be planet Tian, where players will have to take on missions to stave off unpredictable threats. Not too many details about the story or gameplay have been revealed yet aside from the trailer. The title is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and doesn't yet have a release date. The title is being published by Tencent Games subsidiary Level Infinite in partnership with Team Shooter & Creative. Aside from base-building mechanics, the gameplay for Exterminauts seems to be quite similar to Helldivers 2, with players having to take on increasingly escalating threats to defend their base. However, details about things like mission variety and what kinds of aliens will have to be taken out weren't revealed. Behaviour Interactive has been working on its first project for quite some time, and since its founding, has faced quite a bit of trouble. However, following some layoffs a couple of years ago, the team seems to have found some stable ground and has been quietly working on the co-op shooter since. Follow Gamingbolt:
