Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Joby acquired Avionyx on February 28, 2026, expanding certification capacity immediately.
  • Rapita partnered with Avionyx on February 18, 2026, widening DAL A multicore demand.
  • Open jobs in May and August 2026 indicate active demand and continued staffing investment.

What critics are saying

  • Joby may reallocate Avionyx engineers toward eVTOL certification, starving external clients by 2027.
  • Avionyx's business depends on scarce certification specialists; competitors like Rapita compress pricing now.
  • If Joby delays FAA approval, Avionyx becomes an internal cost center with limited standalone demand.

What makes Avionyx unique

  • Avionyx combines 35 years of DO-178C and DO-254 expertise in Costa Rica.
  • Its AS9100D certification shows zero findings since 2020, signaling disciplined aerospace process control.
  • Joby-owned, Avionyx offers near-shore certification services across the Americas for DAL A programs.

Rapita Systems and Avionyx partner on avionics certification

Rapita Systems and Avionyx partner on avionics certification. By Web Team 26th February 2026 2 Mins Read UK-based software verification tools provider Rapita Systems has partnered with Avionyx, a Joby Aviation-owned aerospace engineering company based in Costa Rica, to accelerate avionics software certification for customers in the Americas. The collaboration will combine Rapita's verification tools with Avionyx's 35 years of engineering expertise to support projects requiring certification to Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) under DO-178C, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standard for airborne software. The partnership aims to reduce the time and cost associated with software compliance testing, which can take years and requires specialized expertise that is in short supply. Jamie Ayre, chief commercial officer at Rapita Systems, said, "Rapita and Avionyx joining forces is a logical union given our shared focus on supporting high-criticality aerospace projects and commitment to solving the industry's hardest challenges." The partnership will also address challenges related to certifying multicore processors in modern aircraft. Rapita Systems' MACH178 workflows combined with Avionyx's engineering experience will provide a methodology for satisfying AC 20-193 objectives, the FAA's guidance on multicore processor certification. Tom Ferrell, general manager at Avionyx, said, "This collaboration enables Avionyx to offer our customers a faster, more efficient path to certification, even for the most demanding DAL A and multi-core projects." 25th February 2026 5 Mins Read 24th February 2026 2 Mins Read
