  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Perform routine physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance and repair, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting, and using hand and power tools.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance service within the acceptable measured standards for Dayton Freight Lines.
  • Repair and rebuild components on 48-foot and 53-foot dry van trailers, including suspension and running gear, landing gear assemblies, wheel components and tires, brake and air components, electrical, lighting and wiring components, rear frame and door components, side, nose and roof components, and interior and floor components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication.
  • Perform service calls.
  • Wash and fuel equipment when necessary.
  • Road-test vehicles to ensure quality repair services were performed when holding a commercial driver's license.
  • Proactively assist, guide, and direct junior technicians.
  • Participate in the care and upkeep of the shop, grounds, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment that complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company standards.
  • Record all work and labor on a computer in the EMS system.
  • Work with the Parts Department to maintain proper quantities of necessary materials, parts, service, and shop supplies.
  • Work in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations and Department of Transportation and company safety requirements.
  • Perform other maintenance duties or assignments when necessary.
