Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in engineering drafting and design practices is required.
  • Ability to effectively use computerized design and drafting software applications according to project requirements.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Structural packages is essential.
  • Knowledge of Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of civil/structural drawings and design practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering, design, and construction.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Perform layout and design work from basic supplied data.
  • Develop working drawings and 3D models within company and industry standards and codes, using equipment specifications and detailed drawings.
  • Check and analyze team-prepared 3D models for accuracy, completeness, and interferences.
  • Develop complex detailed structural steel and concrete design drawings in 2D and E3D environments from sketches or specifications, ensuring dimensional accuracy, spelling, computer-aided design, applicable codes, project specifications, and discipline standards.
  • Apply advanced techniques in computer-aided design and standard design applications.
  • Apply knowledge of materials and methods used in the civil/structural discipline.
  • Exercise independent judgment to select correct design criteria based on vendor data and project scope.
  • Use and implement manufacturers' design documentation in the design process.
  • Assemble information and reference drawings from varied sources.
  • Communicate with project discipline engineers and designers to support collaboration in the design effort.
  • Advise, assist, and direct lower-grade drafting personnel in their assigned duties.
  • Follow the company quality-assurance manual and standard operating procedures when completing assigned tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree in Drafting, Design, or Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • Experience with AVEVA E3D or PDMS software is preferred.
  • Experience with Advanced Work Packaging is a plus.

Zachry Group awarded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource's Combined Cycle Generation Project. SAN ANTONIO-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Zachry Group (Zachry) has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for NiSource Inc.'s Combined Cycle Generation Project, a major infrastructure project located near Wheatfield, Indiana. The facility will support NiSource's delivery of electricity to a third-party customer and includes two nominal 1,300-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle units in a 2 x 2 x 1 configuration. A subsidiary of NiSource Inc. will own and operate the facility. The EPC contract will be executed by a joint venture between Zachry Group and Quanta Services, Inc. (Quanta). Zachry will lead engineering, procurement, project management, construction planning, and commissioning, drawing on its five decades of experience designing and building over 100 gas-fired facilities totaling more than 60,000 megawatts. Quanta will contribute field-level leadership and craft workforce management through its operating companies. This collaborative approach is designed to enhance execution certainty, optimize labor resources, and deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure.
