Requirements
  • Possess an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Hold an unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Indiana.
  • Have at least two years of licensed nursing experience, including at least one year providing long-term care services.
  • Be able to work evenings to instruct courses.
  • Demonstrate the ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that support student learning and align with college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials aligned with course objectives and program learning outcomes.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Manage a classroom environment conducive to student learning and compliant with federal, state, and college safety standards and practices.
  • Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes.
  • Use the Learning Management System, such as Canvas, to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
  • Provide academic coaching and monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, use technology for academic advising alerts, and provide interventions, tutoring, academic support, and referrals to college resources.
  • Maintain posted office hours in accordance with campus expectations and faculty loading policy.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful program completion through outreach by phone and electronic means.
  • Participate in professional development, including scheduled training, time spent on-site in related businesses and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills and current field knowledge.
  • Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline and in activities required for certification and licensure.
  • Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and technology related to teaching.
  • Provide institutional support through committees, task forces, accreditation projects, and grant-related projects.
  • Support and engage with Ivy Tech Foundations.
  • Attend commencement and participate as assigned by regional administration.
  • Participate in college, campus-wide, departmental, division, and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in career service and alumni activities.
  • Support the program or department chair in program management activities.
  • Adhere to college and regional academic policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Complete the Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer program.
  • Have a completed application for approval as a CNA program director on file with the Indiana State Department of Health, including all required documentation.
  • Have approval from the Indiana State Department of Health Division of Long-Term Care Training Section as a CNA program director.
  • Complete the Indiana State Department of Health instructor QMA course.
