Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to operate electronic devices including digital multimeters, safety analyzers, and patient simulators.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under the employer’s insurer.
  • Ability to function in a patient-care environment while interacting with healthcare staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to work with or without reasonable accommodation and meet the stated physical demands, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, reaching, handling, feeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision within the normal range.
  • Ability to use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Ability to work onsite and maintain appropriate safety practices around bodily fluids, disease, infection, chemicals, hazardous materials, voltages, steam, pressurized air, and fluids.
Responsibilities
  • Develop policies and procedures related to the use, management, and support of biomedical equipment.
  • Help design, implement, and maintain safe and properly functioning clinical equipment.
  • Install, inventory, inspect, and repair clinical, biomedical, and electronic equipment systems.
  • Attend required training and seminars.
  • Maintain proficiency in operating and repairing assigned equipment.
  • Make presentations at shop meetings.
  • Perform in-service training as requested.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Process equipment recalls and alerts according to assignments.
  • Maintain equipment records.
  • Use a team approach to manage clinical equipment systems and other electronic equipment systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair clinical equipment systems and other electronic equipment using critical thinking skills.
  • Complete work orders and document their completion and outcomes.
  • Assist with cross-training other employees on equipment safety, operation, repair, and usage.
  • Cross-train to work in other areas of Clinical Engineering as needed.
  • Assist with project implementation.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Perform compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards and DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Perform essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Identify and reduce unsafe practices and risks or hazards that may harm patients, visitors, or employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Biomedical, Information Technology, or Electronics, or equivalent experience.
