Responsibilities
Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed site civil and development features.
Prepare engineering analyses, designs, calculations, drawings, and reports for a portion or all of a project under the direction of Project Engineers.
Work with landscape architects, land use planners, attorneys, owners, and facility managers on design teams.
Perform construction assistance tasks, including responding to Requests for Information, visiting job sites, reviewing submittals, and coordinating design revisions.
Assist with technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, reports, and daily correspondence.
Prepare land use plans for review and permit applications, and analyze zoning ordinances for plan compliance.
Research code issues and work with city, state, and county officials.
Attend and participate in project meetings.
Stay current on legal and industry regulations.
Assist with surveying, geotechnical testing, and construction materials testing tasks.
Travel primarily locally to job sites during the business day, with occasional out-of-state overnight travel.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in an environment involving site layout, grading, sewer and utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, jurisdictional agency interaction, and related civil engineering project activities.
Experience using AutoCAD.
Overview
The Staff Engineer performs engineering design and analysis on projects and programs ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria. Assists with the preparation of permit applications, material testing, surveying, construction staking, drawing preparation, and computer aided design (CAD) work.
Responsibilities

Qualifications
Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Michigan E.I.T. | F.E. certification or in the process of obtaining certification.
Must possess a valid driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
Knowledge and Experience
0-3 years of relevant civil engineering internships/experience- preferability in an environment that performs site layout, grading, sewer and other utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, jurisdictional agency interaction, and other related project activities.
Understanding of basic civil engineering principles, theories and methods.
Experience using AutoCAD preferred but not required.
Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for civil engineering design and management (Microsoft Office, etc.)

Availability
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and overtime as required.
Travel
Travel will be required to respective job sites and is primarily local during the business day. Occasionally, travel may be required to job sites in other states and would require overnight stay.
