About the company

Mizell Memorial Hospital

View

Mizell Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit acute care hospital in Opp, Alabama that provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including a 24-hour emergency department, ICU, imaging, laboratory, physical therapy, Sleep Disorders Center, outpatient infusion, and clinics in orthopedics, cardiology, and podiatry. It operates under community governance and reinvests earnings into services and programs to serve the local population. The hospital distinguishes itself with a locally governed, not-for-profit model that offers geriatric behavioral care and a swing bed rehabilitation program, and it remains a major employer in Covington County, supporting access to care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Its goal is to provide comprehensive healthcare to Covington County residents while maintaining operations and stability, even during Chapter 11 restructuring to address financial pressures.
