About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering and at least five years of experience are required.
  • At least five years of professional software development experience with current daily hands-on coding and prototyping in modern technology stacks is required.
  • At least five years of experience building cloud-native, microservices, or event-driven systems, with Azure or an equivalent cloud platform, is required.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted tools and workflows such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code for design, coding, test generation, and documentation is required.
  • Proficiency in technology stacks such as Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript with React or Vue is required.
  • Experience owning end-to-end solution delivery, including design, implementation, and post-release operational accountability for medium-to-large projects, is required.
  • A track record of building production code, prototypes, and reference implementations to validate solution feasibility is required.
  • Experience with REST/OpenAPI, messaging platforms, and relational and non-relational databases (SQL/NoSQL) is required.
  • Hands-on proficiency with CI/CD, containerization, Docker, Kubernetes, deployment tooling, automated testing, and AI/agentic workflows is required.
  • Practical experience with generative AI and AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor, with measurable delivery impact is required.
  • The ability to facilitate workshops, present technical solutions, and collaborate across business and engineering teams is required.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, conducting thorough code reviews, and championing engineering best practices across teams is required.
  • Applicants must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Applicants must be located near or within the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
Responsibilities
  • Instrument and leverage AI/agentic workflows in daily development to accelerate design, prototyping, code generation, test-case creation, specification drafting, and automated validation across the software lifecycle.
  • Apply AI-assisted development practices in personal work, model best practices for the team, and ensure ethical compliance and responsible integration of generative AI tools.
  • Own end-to-end solution delivery across Discovery and Delivery Tracks by building validated prototypes, contributing to formal designs, decomposing work into deliverables, and shipping accepted technical implementations.
  • Drive the Discovery Track under Dual-Track Agile by writing working prototypes and demonstrating solutions to validate feasibility and align stakeholders before full implementation.
  • Translate discovery outcomes into delivery backlog items and partner with implementation teams to preserve design intent, code quality standards, and non-functional requirements throughout delivery.
  • Contribute to technical design across products and integrations by producing ADRs, interface contracts, data models, sequencing diagrams, migration and rollback plans, and traceability matrices, while partnering with architects on broader governance.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead in client engagements by facilitating workshops, presenting technical solutions, making trade-off decisions, driving approvals, and acting as a subject-matter expert for assigned platform areas.
  • Personally implement critical components and complex features in modern retail platform stacks, set code quality standards through personal work, and review and approve implementation-team deliverables.
  • Apply and reinforce engineering standards, reusable integration patterns, and non-functional requirements for security, scalability, and observability across client solutions.
  • Mentor and upskill engineers on AI-assisted development, Dual-Track workflows, specification-driven design, and platform best practices, primarily through pair programming, code reviews, and example-driven leadership.
  • Contribute to platform and product strategy by identifying reusable assets, API-first designs, and technical gaps requiring investment.
  • Own risk analysis and mitigation for technical decisions, including backward compatibility, data integrity, and compliance constraints.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong retail platform domain knowledge, including POS systems and store operations, is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud credentials are preferred.
  • A strong understanding of advanced security best practices and compliance requirements in enterprise systems is preferred.
  • Experience leading Dual-Track Agile processes, managing Discovery and Delivery Tracks, and translating discovery outcomes into actionable backlog items is preferred.
  • Experience contributing to platform strategy, reusable assets, and API-first designs is preferred.
  • Expertise in formal or machine-readable specifications such as OpenAPI, UML+OCL, or TLA+ to guide implementation and enable automated validation is preferred.
