Requirements
  • A B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar related discipline, plus 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience; a relevant advanced degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of space system development, systems engineering, structure and thermal design and analysis, mechanical and fluid systems, or manufacturing.
  • Experience developing technical content for proposals and external customer presentations.
  • Experience authoring and decomposing mission- and system-level requirements.
  • Strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and self-starting abilities with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing needs and requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience working with engineers of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, think creatively, make critical technical decisions, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and review concepts and designs for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft.
  • Support development and technical content creation for mission opportunities and internal development programs.
  • Develop and perform trade studies to support technical, business, and programmatic actions and decision-making.
  • Perform thermal design and analysis for mission concepts and right-size thermal architectures to meet end-to-end mission objectives and requirements.
  • Identify and develop next-generation thermal management systems for lunar spacecraft.
  • Identify and resolve system-level impacts driven by thermal design requirements.
  • Contribute to schedules, resourcing, and budget estimates.
  • Communicate with engineering disciplines, partners, customers, and vendors to resolve technical risks and challenges.
  • Participate in visits and technical interchange meetings with customer and partner organizations.
  • Translate abstract customer requirements into actionable product goals and system architectures for customer presentations, proposals, and stakeholder marketing.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure engineering solutions comply with mission and business needs and the company technology roadmap.
  • Support the system-level technical vision for new products by connecting customer needs with feasible, high-performing solutions across hardware and software domains.
