Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of systems administration experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A New York State Medical Technologist license is required upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and correct computer systems issues.
  • Provide hands-on system administration, system maintenance, and operations support.
  • Recommend, build, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments, and infrastructure upgrades specific to Laboratory Information Systems.
  • Provide technical support for non-production and production environments, including troubleshooting and remediation of technical issues.
  • Work with third-party vendors and software companies as needed, and research and answer technical application, database, server, and security configuration questions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for support and provide on-call support after hours as defined by application support requirements.
  • Support application and system-to-system integrations and security administration.
  • Monitor environments and provide performance tuning for application, database, server, and security settings and features.
  • Use tools to manage code migrations, environment builds, testing, and implementation; apply patches and deliver application upgrades.
  • Translate application, database, server, and security requirements into technical or systems specifications.
  • Design technical enhancements and complete application administration deliverables, including application, database, server, and security configuration.
  • Provide implementation and ongoing support; participate in application administration maintenance and implementation plan walkthroughs.
  • Develop technical documentation and procedures for application administration development or support teams.
  • Test newly developed applications, integrations, systems, solutions, and application upgrades; prepare test plans and test data and complete integrated testing.
  • Follow and develop application administration and change management procedures.
  • Participate in smaller systems projects or enhancements and deliver assigned application administration tasks according to project plans and estimates.
  • Lead technical teams in delivering assignments and provide input for project plans and estimates related to application administration.
  • Participate in team retrospectives, identify and recommend improvement opportunities, log application administration requests, and deliver system-improvement assignments.
  • Share application administration knowledge and provide cross-training and peer support.
  • Lead team meetings and participate in estimation and planning of future application administration work plans.
  • Maintain broad technical knowledge of equipment and systems in assigned application areas and current on-premise application administration technologies.
  • Participate in external technical application administration communities of practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
