Requirements
  • BLS certification is required within the first 30 days of employment.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and education at a two-year college or technical school are required.
  • A graduate of a two-year accredited school of Radiologic Technology is required.
  • Current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Maintain MRT registration with the Texas Medical Board.
  • Adequate CT experience and proven competence as determined by the Radiation Safety Officer are required.
  • Completion of the company-provided laboratory testing course and competency is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and follow HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Basic mathematics skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to maintain required professional certifications and licenses and continuing education units.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting or supporting patients.
  • Ability to work near radiation, infectious or communicable diseases, blood and blood-borne diseases, chemicals, fumes, odors, gases, dust, moving mechanical parts, and medical equipment.
  • Ability to rotate shifts, work standby or on-call schedules, and work according to operational need.
Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory, general radiography, and computerized tomography imaging procedures and related patient care according to regulations, physician orders, and department and facility policies.
  • Conduct regular inventory and maintain proper supply levels in cooperation with the Facility Radiology Leader.
  • Conduct radiology studies in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
  • Complete documentation and obtain patient consent according to protocol.
  • Participate in facility certifications and complete assigned annual education on time.
  • Follow HIPAA, infection-control, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Keep the radiology suite and facilities clean, well-maintained, and compliant with OSHA standards.
  • Assist with patient care within the scope of training and education, including obtaining vital signs, bringing patients back, swabbing patients, helping run laboratory results, starting intravenous lines, and setting up procedures.
  • Administer and document contrast material.
  • Send images to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Interpret physicians' scanning instructions accurately.
  • Prepare and operate CT scan equipment.
  • Position patients to capture appropriate images.
  • Perform daily quality assurance, document limits, and report out-of-limit results to the Radiology Leader.
  • Check dose output on all CT examinations performed.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures using medical and radiologic terminology.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to support patient well-being.
  • Help train new staff to use equipment, follow policies and procedures, understand their duties, and become familiar with the work environment.
  • Attend mandatory annual skills training.
  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and continuing education units.
