Requirements
  • JD with admission to a state bar with 8 or more years of experience
  • Maintain current unrestricted pharmacist licensure and/or State Bar admission. Florida Bar admission preferred
  • Deeply familiar with Florida pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Expert in healthcare laws related to pharmacy and related areas such as anti-kickback, pharma compliance and data privacy
  • Knowledge and work experience with computerized pharmacy information and dispensing systems, operations, and pharmacy services
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced and high-growth environment. You are a quick learner and navigate ambiguity effectively
  • You have a strong sense of ownership and ability to drive complicated projects with multiple stakeholders to completion quickly
  • A strong, precise, written and verbal communicator, regarding interpretation of additions and changes and timelines for compliance
  • Knowledge and work experience with computerized pharmacy information and dispensing systems, operations, and pharmacy services
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy or advanced study in pharmacy or health-care related field, preferably a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Responsibilities
  • Serve as liaison to pharmacy staff and provide broad oversight for licensing, accreditation standards, federal and state rules and regulations, CMS regulations, audits and Board of Pharmacy inquiries, pharmacy specific accreditations held, and regulatory standards and their interpretations
  • Provide consultation to VPS leadership to identify and initiate improvements to ensure compliance with existing and evolving accreditation standards, CMS requirements, and federal and state laws, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain subject matter knowledge and expertise and enhance knowledge of the above standards, rules, and regulations that relate to pharmacy services
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of additions and changes to standards, rules, and regulations that relate to pharmacy services, their interpretation, current trends and issues, and timelines for compliance
  • Lead risk mitigation efforts for all legal related issues
  • Complete gap analyses for compliance with additions and changes to the standards, rules, regulations and assess potential organizational impact
  • Develop and/or update policies, procedures, SOPs, and business rules documents whenever additions and changes to standards, rules, or regulations warrant
  • Reviews proposed regulatory changes for operational impacts and for planning purposes
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to applicable pharmacy accreditation standards and compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations
  • Reviews business rules documentation, policies, and procedures in coordination with VPS leadership for new and existing programs to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop and maintain current pharmacy accreditation, and facilitate compliance education, including training for new employees and ongoing for existing employees to ensure a constant state of readiness and compliance
  • Oversee processes to ensure no employee appears on the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities, the General Services Administration (GSA) list of debarred contractors, or State excluded providers list
  • Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments and corrective actions, as well as regular internal audits to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Review commercial contracts related to vitaCare as needed
  • Full ownership of all facets of investigation and investigation reporting on matters related to compliance and pharmacovigilance
  • Other projects as assigned
