About the job
- A high school diploma and two years of technical school or equivalent military training, or equivalent work experience.
- Two years of progressive experience repairing, servicing, or installing complex electromechanical hardware, analytical or diagnostic instrumentation, software, or networking and wireless systems, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience or familiarity with complex laboratory fluidics, pneumatic or gas systems, or high-precision mechanical assemblies.
- Direct experience installing or servicing complex laboratory systems such as LC-MS/MS, analytical chemistry equipment, or high-throughput clinical diagnostic instrumentation.
- Perform site pre-inspections, physical installation, assembly, line leveling, and initial setup of cobas i601 mass spectrometry systems and automated liquid-handling front ends across national customer sites with minimal supervision.
- Install and verify ultra-high vacuum pumps, atmospheric pressure ionization interface modules, nitrogen and carrier gas supply lines, exhaust systems, and high-pressure liquid chromatography or ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography fluidic connections.
- Install instrument connectivity solutions, network interfaces, and software drivers as part of the cobas i601 platform integration.
- Perform initial physical alignments, basic vacuum leak checks, fluidic pressure testing, and mandatory technical service bulletins and engineering modifications during installation.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical, fluidic, gas-line, electronic, and information technology connectivity issues during installation.
- Partner with Field Engineering Specialists and Field Applications Specialists to transition systems from physical installation to assay validation and user training.
- At least two years of direct experience installing, servicing, or maintaining mass spectrometry, LC-MS/MS, chromatography, HPLC or UHPLC, vacuum systems, or Roche clinical diagnostic analyzers.
- Advanced knowledge of electronics, electromechanical systems, gas dynamics, ultra-high vacuum systems, and information technology.
- Knowledge of basic chemistry, analytical chromatography, and clinical laboratory physical environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including use of precision measurement tools, vacuum leak detectors, and gas flow meters.
- Customer service, organization, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.

Roche's collaborator MediLink has announced positive phase III results for tambotatug pelitecan (Tam-Peli) in Chinese patients with relapsed small-cell lung cancer. The TAISHAN-302 trial showed Tam-Peli reduced the risk of death by 54% compared to topotecan, with median overall survival of 13.3 versus 9.4 months. The antibody-drug conjugate also demonstrated superior progression-free survival (7.4 versus 2.8 months) and objective response rates (59.1% versus 9.7%). China's National Medical Products Administration has accepted the New Drug Application for filing. Roche is developing and commercialising Tam-Peli outside mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, with plans to rapidly initiate global trials. The therapy has received Breakthrough Therapy Designations from both the US FDA and China CDE for relapsed small-cell lung cancer.
Tempus AI has raised $600 million in Series C funding to scale its machine learning platform for cancer recurrence detection through liquid biopsies. The investment was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with participation from Roche and Merck. Phase II trial data showed the AI-enhanced liquid biopsy analysis reduced false-negative results by 37% compared to conventional methods. The platform uses deep learning algorithms trained on over 12,000 genomic profiles to identify circulating tumour DNA fragments shed by residual cancer cells. A 2025 Nature Medicine study reported the system achieved 92% specificity in detecting minimal residual disease across breast, lung, and colorectal cancers. According to SEC filings, 45% of funds will support FDA pre-market approval trials, whilst 30% will fund global expansion into EU and APAC markets.
Roche has committed $75 million upfront to acquire global rights to Simcere Pharmaceutical's experimental blood-cancer drug SIM0660. The deal could reach $1.53 billion if the drug meets development, regulatory and commercial milestones, with additional tiered royalties. The agreement grants Roche exclusive development, manufacturing and commercialisation rights outside Simcere's retained markets. CVS Health and Roche could benefit from the growing GLP-1 drug market, alongside current leaders Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk. CVS Health has improved its financial performance, with second-quarter revenue rising 7.3% year-over-year to $106.1 billion and adjusted earnings per share increasing 42.5% to $2.58. The pharmacy chain offers all approved GLP-1 medicines in the US, including Eli Lilly's Zepbound and Foundayo, plus Novo Nordisk's Wegovy. CVS also provides low-cost online consultations at $29 to assess patient eligibility for GLP-1 drugs. Beyond GLP-1 initiatives, CVS is addressing previous business challenges and is positioned to capitalise on rising healthcare spending in the US over the next decade.
Roche and Eli Lilly have received FDA clearance for a blood test that helps detect signs of Alzheimer's disease in people aged 55 and older experiencing cognitive decline. The Elecsys pTau217 test measures a blood biomarker to determine whether patients are likely to have brain changes associated with Alzheimer's. The test can be performed using more than 4,500 Roche laboratory analysers already installed across the United States. Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics plan to offer the test through their laboratory networks, expanding access nationwide. Pricing has not been disclosed. The clearance follows European approval in May. Blood-based testing could provide a simpler alternative to existing methods like PET imaging and cerebrospinal fluid analysis, which can be expensive and invasive.
