Requirements
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a business or computer-related discipline appropriate to the program, or possess an earned bachelor's degree in such a discipline with documentation of two qualifying forms of professional certification, in-field employment, teaching excellence, research and publication, or relevant additional coursework.
  • For a related or out-of-field master's degree, have documented 18 post-secondary semester hours or equivalent coursework in a business or computer-related discipline beyond the introductory principles level, or documentation in two or more qualifying areas.
  • For BOAT 0XX courses, possess an earned bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution and at least two qualifying forms of professional certification, in-field employment, teaching excellence, research and publication, or relevant coursework.
  • For OTEC 101, hold a current or second-most-recent Microsoft Office Outlook certification.
  • For OTEC 105, hold a current or second-most-recent Microsoft Office Word certification.
  • For OTEC 109, hold a current or second-most-recent Microsoft Office PowerPoint certification.
  • For OTEC 118, hold a current or second-most-recent Microsoft Office Excel certification.
  • For OTEC 228, hold a current or second-most-recent Microsoft Office Excel Expert certification.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the Office Administration and Technology field and maintain subject-matter competence through professional development.
  • Plan and organize instruction, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, adapt methods to diverse student needs, and use instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Communicate subject matter to students, encourage communication and higher-order thinking skills through assignments, contribute to instructional-material development, and support classroom efforts promoting student success.
  • Establish learning objectives, develop fair evaluation methods, evaluate and return student work, maintain accurate student-progress records, and submit final grade and attendance rosters according to deadlines.
  • Meet scheduled classes, prepare and submit approved syllabi and course outlines, maintain confidentiality of student information, and steward college facilities and materials.
  • Respond to information requests from college, division, and program administrators; contribute to curriculum development; and attend program, divisional, and college meetings and events when feasible.
  • Maintain familiarity with college goals, mission, and long-range plans and contribute to planning and development processes where appropriate.
